                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the Timpson High School football team for its outstanding
    1-3  achievements during the 1992 gridiron campaign; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, The Timpson Bears' regular season record of 8
    1-5  victories, 1 defeat, and 1 tie earned the Bears a well-deserved
    1-6  place in the University Interscholastic League Class 2A state
    1-7  football playoffs as District 21 champions; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In a spectacular offensive display, Timpson routed
    1-9  San Augustine High School 49-24, to take the bi-district title and
   1-10  advance to the area championship game; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The Bears employed a stifling defense to shut out
   1-12  Leon High School 21-0, securing the area crown, and continued their
   1-13  march through the playoffs; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Although their next opponent, New Diana High School,
   1-15  provided a much sterner test, Timpson rose to the occasion, winning
   1-16  the hard-fought 13-7 contest; the victory gave the Bears the Region
   1-17  III championship and a coveted slot in the state quarterfinals; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, This superb Bear team ended their season with a
   1-19  valiant effort against Paul Pewitt High School, narrowly losing the
   1-20  game by a score of 28-21 but earning the respect of all those who
   1-21  competed against them; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were the
   1-23  result of a total team effort and selfless contributions throughout
   1-24  the year from members Eric Yarbrough, Michael Osby, Demetris
    2-1  Mosley, Roderick Yarbrough, Andrey Crawford, Artemus McClendon,
    2-2  Shamfrea Hooper, Eric Graves, Kirk Dillon, Bryan Chadwick, Antjuan
    2-3  Sanchez, Stacy Fleming, Antonio Sanchez, Jason Samford, Marlon
    2-4  Bryant, Chris Thacker, Jarral Page, John Williamson, Deon Earl,
    2-5  Willis Grace, Shane Parks, Rolando Collins, Steven Gutermuth, Jacob
    2-6  Duke, Marcus Yarbrough, Eddie Cross, Gregory Young, Carlos Johnson,
    2-7  Jeff Renick, James Ramsey, LaDarryl Neal, Rodergus Earl, Brandon
    2-8  Bowen, Sam Jones, Dominique Yarbrough, Willie Bussey, and Anund
    2-9  Kjetsa; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, Inspiration and firm leadership were the hallmark of
   2-11  head coach Art Horton and he was ably supported throughout the
   2-12  season by assistant coaches Joe Leath, Austin Thacker, Joe Fincher,
   2-13  and Steve Zurline, who helped mold the team into a consistent
   2-14  winner; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men and their coaches
   2-16  have been a tremendous source of pride for the students and faculty
   2-17  at Timpson High School and their many supporters in the community,
   2-18  and their exceptional accomplishments have rightfully earned them
   2-19  special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-21  Legislature hereby congratulate head coach Art Horton and the
   2-22  Timpson High School Bears on their exceptional season as District
   2-23  21 and Region III champions and extend to them best wishes for
   2-24  continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-25        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-26  for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be
   2-27  prepared for prominent display at Timpson High School as an
    3-1  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
