                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Billy Reneau for his exceptional service to the citizens of
    1-3  Nacogdoches County as county commissioner of Precinct 1; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native of Appleby, Commissioner Reneau was
    1-5  graduated from Garrison High School in 1956 and went on to attend
    1-6  Paris Junior College on a football scholarship; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, He began his distinguished tenure of public service
    1-8  in 1985 after being elected to serve the people of Nacogdoches
    1-9  County as county commissioner of Precinct 1; he has served ably in
   1-10  that capacity for the past seven years, performing the duties of
   1-11  his office with the utmost integrity and an unwavering dedication
   1-12  to the principles of good government; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Commissioner Reneau's tenure has been marked by many
   1-14  significant accomplishments in a variety of areas; he played an
   1-15  instrumental role in the completion of a numbering system for
   1-16  county roads and spearheaded efforts to create a countywide 9-1-1
   1-17  emergency service program; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, He also instituted numerous improvements to the
   1-19  county infrastructure, securing funds to pave 11-1/2 miles of
   1-20  county roads and facilitating efforts to build county bridges; in
   1-21  addition, he helped to provide the Nacogdoches County road
   1-22  department with new equipment; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Adept in the skills of problem-solving and
   1-24  negotiation, Commissioner Reneau played a vital role in
    2-1  establishing the county's new law enforcement center and jail and
    2-2  also led efforts in the area of solid waste management; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Outside his capacity as commissioner, this
    2-4  exceptional gentleman has maintained close ties to his community as
    2-5  an organizer and charter member of the Appleby Volunteer Fire
    2-6  Department and a devout member of the congregation of Bethel
    2-7  Baptist Church; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Commissioner
    2-9  Reneau has shown the utmost dedication to public service, and his
   2-10  consummate concern for the betterment of his community is truly
   2-11  worthy of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby honor Commissioner Billy Reneau for his
   2-14  outstanding service and commitment to the citizens of Nacogdoches
   2-15  County and extend best wishes to him in all his future endeavors;
   2-16  and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for Commissioner Reneau as an expression of highest regard
   2-19  by the Texas House of Representatives.
