No. 15 72S40308 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Charles Joseph "Butch" 1-2 Johansson on October 24, 1992, at the age of 43, has brought a 1-3 great loss to the many friends and family of this fine man, and 1-4 indeed to all the residents of Bridge City who benefited from his 1-5 civic leadership and commitment; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A native of Port Arthur, this esteemed gentleman 1-7 made his home in Bridge City for the past 38 years, and throughout 1-8 those years, Mr. Johansson truly exemplified the spirit of sharing 1-9 and compassion by generously giving much of his time and talent to 1-10 the community; and 1-11 WHEREAS, After his graduation from Bridge City High School in 1-12 1967, this distinguished individual continued his education at 1-13 Lamar University and the University of Houston, earning a bachelor 1-14 of science degree in pharmacy in 1972; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Johansson later drew on his fine education to 1-16 become a successful entrepreneur as the owner and operator of 1-17 Johansson's Community Pharmacy in Bridge City and Script Care, 1-18 Inc., of Beaumont; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Despite his thriving career, this civic-minded 1-20 gentleman was never too busy to support a worthy cause; he 1-21 contributed to the betterment of his community through his diligent 1-22 work with the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce and as a member of 1-23 the board of trustees of the local school district, as well as 1-24 through his commitment to youth sports; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Mr. Johansson enjoyed the combination of fellowship, 2-2 friendship, and service offered by many civic groups in Bridge 2-3 City, including the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge No. 1345, and the El 2-4 Mina Shrine; he also contributed his time to serve as secretary for 2-5 Legend Pharmacies of Texas and to participate in the legislative 2-6 affairs arm of the Texas Pharmacy Association; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Throughout his many years of professional growth and 2-8 community activism, this devoted husband and father relied on his 2-9 close-knit family for love and support; he enjoyed a special 2-10 relationship with his wife, Leah Long Johansson, and their marriage 2-11 was blessed with two sons, Eric and Ryan; and 2-12 WHEREAS, A man of rare dedication and compassion, Charles 2-13 Joseph "Butch" Johansson will be greatly missed; though his 2-14 presence is gone from us now, his spirit will continue to live on 2-15 in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched; now, 2-16 therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 72nd Texas 2-18 Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of 2-19 Charles Joseph "Butch" Johansson and extend profound sympathy to 2-20 the members of his family: to his wife, Leah Long Johansson; to 2-21 his sons, Eric and Ryan Johansson; to his parents, Mr. and 2-22 Mrs. E. J. Johansson; to his brother, Alan Johansson; and to his 2-23 sister, Sue Gondran; and, be it further 2-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-25 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-26 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-27 Charles Joseph "Butch" Johansson.
