                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Eduardo Luis Morales, a senior at Saint Augustine High School in
    1-3  Laredo, on his outstanding record of academic achievement, his
    1-4  noteworthy ambitions for a career in service to mankind, and the
    1-5  pride he has demonstrated in being a deeply patriotic American
    1-6  citizen; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, While maintaining his high academic standing as an
    1-8  honors student at Saint Augustine High School, Mr. Morales also
    1-9  excelled in a variety of extracurricular activities ranging from
   1-10  athletics to drama productions; an active member of several campus
   1-11  organizations, he also demonstrated exceptional leadership ability
   1-12  as class vice-president and as both vice-president and president of
   1-13  his high school's Honor Society; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Honored many times over during his distinguished
   1-15  scholastic career, this capable young scholar has received several
   1-16  noteworthy awards, including a NEDT award for scoring in the top 10
   1-17  percentile of his class, a Latin American History pin for attaining
   1-18  the highest class average, and a listing in Who's Who Among
   1-19  American High School Students; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Seeking to broaden his horizons further, Mr. Morales
   1-21  took advantage of opportunities to continue his studies during the
   1-22  past two summers by taking courses in summer school programs at
   1-23  Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire in 1991 and at Georgetown
   1-24  University in Washington, D.C., in 1992; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Already noted for his impressive list of
    2-2  achievements, this exemplary young man also has gained recognition
    2-3  for his refreshing display of patriotism and idealism, a depth of
    2-4  feeling he conveyed in a sensitive personal essay depicting his
    2-5  moving experience on seeing the Vietnam Memorial in Washington,
    2-6  D.C.; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, Bright, energetic, sensitive, and idealistic,
    2-8  Eduardo Luis Morales is an excellent representative of the talent
    2-9  and the potential that reside in young Texans today, and his
   2-10  academic performance during the past four years is indeed worthy of
   2-11  special praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby honor Eduardo Luis Morales on his outstanding
   2-14  record of scholastic achievement at Saint Augustine High School and
   2-15  extend sincere best wishes for continued success and a happy and
   2-16  rewarding future; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for Mr. Morales as an expression of high esteem by the
   2-19  Texas House of Representatives.
