                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Constable Joseph Anthony Scrofne, Sr., who is retiring after a
    1-3  distinguished career in public service that has spanned more than
    1-4  three decades; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A native Texan, Constable Scrofne was born in the
    1-6  community of Dickinson on October 26, 1920, the son of Italian
    1-7  immigrants who came to this country from Sicily; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, This fine gentleman proudly served his country as a
    1-9  member of the Army Air Force as a young man and married his beloved
   1-10  wife, the former June Rose Hetzel, in 1942; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Constable Scrofne began his outstanding career in
   1-12  law enforcement as a reserve police officer with the Hitchcock
   1-13  Police Department; he later served as chief deputy for the police
   1-14  department and as deputy constable in the administration of Johnny
   1-15  Sanders before earning election to the post of constable some 23
   1-16  years ago; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Throughout his years in office, Constable Scrofne
   1-18  has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of excellence
   1-19  and professionalism, earning the respect and admiration of all who
   1-20  have had the pleasure to work with him; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant also has devoted much
   1-22  of his time and talents to professional and community groups; a
   1-23  past president of the Justice of the Peace and Constable's
   1-24  Association, he also is a past president of the Hitchcock Lions
    2-1  Club and an active member of the Mainland Elks, the Galveston
    2-2  County Fair and Rodeo Association, the Knights of Columbus, and Our
    2-3  Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Constable Scrofne has
    2-5  consistently worked to better the lives of all the citizens of
    2-6  Galveston County, and it is appropriate that he be recognized for
    2-7  his many professional and civic accomplishments; now, therefore, be
    2-8  it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-10  Legislature hereby commend Constable Joseph Anthony Scrofne, Sr.,
   2-11  for the many significant contributions he has made to the
   2-12  betterment of Galveston County and extend to him best wishes for a
   2-13  happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-15  prepared for Constable Scrofne as an expression of high regard by
   2-16  the Texas House of Representatives.
