                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Waxahachie High School Indians have attained the
    1-2  pinnacle of athletic success, completing the 1992 football season
    1-3  with a perfect 16-0 record and claiming the University
    1-4  Interscholastic League Class 4A state football championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, After successfully sweeping through District 13, the
    1-6  Indians met Liberty-Eylau in their first playoff contest and
    1-7  stormed to a resounding 34-7 victory; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, With the area championship at stake, Waxahachie
    1-9  dominated Jacksonville in a 39-0 shutout to take the area crown and
   1-10  continue their march toward the title; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Taking the field against highly regarded Denison,
   1-12  the Indians put on a textbook demonstration of dominance both
   1-13  offensively and defensively, cruising to a 56-0 win; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Although a stern test awaited Waxahachie in the
   1-15  quarter-final round, this determined Indian squad fought their way
   1-16  to a 10-9 victory over Highland Park; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, In a stunning exhibition of gridiron perfection,
   1-18  Waxahachie demolished Lubbock Estacado by a score of 70-6, earning
   1-19  a coveted spot in the Class 4A finals; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Facing defending 4A state titlist A&M Consolidated
   1-21  in the championship game, the Indians refused to be intimidated,
   1-22  coming from behind to win 28-24 and claiming the crown in a fitting
   1-23  finale to a perfect season; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were the
    2-1  result of a total team effort and selfless contributions throughout
    2-2  the year from members Sammie Overton, Lejon Jefferson, Isaiah
    2-3  Moreland, Dontae Edwards, Marcus Swift, Ryan Stanford, Corey
    2-4  Cannon, Lamont Moore, Samson Getinet, Craten Phillips, Corey
    2-5  Pointer, John Dollar, Chad Atwood, Chris Cunningham, Vincent Terry,
    2-6  Robert Jones, Jabari Russell, Terrance Cooks, Fred Davis, Alex
    2-7  Robinson, Patrick Almand, Daryl Dollar, David Farrar, Montae
    2-8  Reagor, Richard Cooks, Nathanial Lindsey, Eric Farrar, Marcos
    2-9  Cerda, Damon Robinson, Kenny Kacal, John Hernandez, Jeff Jarrell,
   2-10  Edward Bullard, Brian Black, Johnny Kuykendall, Jeff Christy, Dean
   2-11  Gregory, Brian Maxin, Jason Howard, Jerry Holubec, Chris Welch,
   2-12  Mark Tater, Chris Fisher, Javier Vasquez, Lamont Harris, Mike
   2-13  Thielen, Joe Garber, Mike Moeglin, Shae McMillan, Travis Allstot,
   2-14  Charles Atchison, Steven Buchannan, Corey Crane, Lucas Luera, Joey
   2-15  Jenkins, Jason Keese, Cody Crawford, Jeremy Morgan, Clay Sellers,
   2-16  and Jason Whiting; and
   2-17        WHEREAS, Inspiration and tireless leadership were the
   2-18  hallmark of head coach Scott Phillips and he was ably supported
   2-19  throughout the season by assistant coaches Thomas Brooks, Charlie
   2-20  Carmichael, Danny Lauve, Bill Midkiff, Jim Miller, David Ryon,
   2-21  Ricky Don Sargent, Tony Valastro, David Yowell, and Alec Wofford;
   2-22  and
   2-23        WHEREAS, Invaluable off-the-field contributions were also
   2-24  made by trainer Javier "Doc" Solis and student assistants Patrice
   2-25  Carson, Chris Keathly, LeeAnn Fletcher, Louis Luera, Cheryl
   2-26  Meazell, Andy Sanchez, Mendy Shaver, and Amanda Pigg; and
   2-27        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young men and their coaches
    3-1  and staff have been a tremendous source of pride for the students
    3-2  and faculty at Waxahachie High School and their many supporters in
    3-3  the community, and their exceptional accomplishments have
    3-4  rightfully earned them special legislative recognition; now,
    3-5  therefore, be it
    3-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    3-7  Legislature hereby congratulate head coach Scott Phillips and the
    3-8  Waxahachie High School Indians on their undefeated season and Class
    3-9  4A state football championship; and, be it further
   3-10        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   3-11  for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be
   3-12  prepared for prominent display at Waxahachie High School as an
   3-13  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
