No. 62 73R2673 LBD-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Edinburg South Junior High School Cheerleading 1-2 Competition Squad recently received national honors by placing 1-3 second in their division at the National Cheerleaders Association 1-4 Championship competition held in Dallas on December 28-29, 1992; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Competing against 75 junior high school squads from 1-7 around the country, this special team's brilliant performance was 1-8 the culmination of months of hard work and dedication on the parts 1-9 of all who joined together to achieve this remarkable goal; under 1-10 the direction of sponsors Yolanda Flores and Liz Olivarez, 1-11 choreographer John Metz, and weight trainer and consultant Eddie 1-12 Carrillo, this group of talented young people met with 1-13 well-deserved success in their pursuit of national recognition; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This fine group stands as a shining example to teams 1-15 everywhere of the importance of determination and enthusiasm in 1-16 building a truly outstanding program; indeed, the achievements of 1-17 the award-winning Edinburg South cheerleading squad and its 1-18 directors are a shared source of pride to their school and 1-19 community and are deserving of special legislative recognition; 1-20 now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby commend the members of the Edinburg South Junior 1-23 High School Cheerleading Competition Squad--Meredith Marsh, Kristen 1-24 Struthers, Michelle Ruiz, Derith Hibbitts, Alyssa Schuller, Rachel 2-1 Corpus, Nyssa Carlson, Denise Avalos, Danielle Canales, Michelle 2-2 Garcia, Aubrey Salaiz, Marissa Tijerina, Heriberto Garza, Erick 2-3 Martinez, Cesar Castillo, Rene Rios, and Debra Guajardo--and extend 2-4 warmest congratulations to them for their outstanding placement in 2-5 the National Cheerleaders Association Championship competition; 2-6 and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-8 for the members of the team and their directors and for prominent 2-9 display at Edinburg South Junior High School as an expression of 2-10 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
