H.R. No. 64 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 students from Inez Foster Elementary School on their most recent 1-3 accomplishment of reading 3,657 books as part of the World Book 1-4 Partners-In-Excellence Reading Program; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The nationwide program is designed to encourage 1-6 young people to read in their leisure time to develop a lifetime 1-7 interest in reading; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Placing first among the second through fifth grade 1-9 classes that participated, Mrs. Sylvia Zamora's third graders read 1-10 a total of 476 books and received the grand prize of a trophy and a 1-11 two-volume set of the Presidents books; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Participating students agreed to read a minimum of 1-13 seven books in a seven-week period, and even kindergartners, 1-14 although not reading yet, eagerly took part by having books read to 1-15 them; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The students garnered a wealth of reading material 1-17 for their efforts plus individual prizes that included gold and 1-18 silver medals, certificates, and Michael Jordan posters; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Pledges from family and friends of the students were 1-20 used to purchase three sets of The World Book Encyclopedia, an 1-21 Early World of Learning Kit, and a set of The Young Scientist, 1-22 acquisitions that will benefit students of Inez Foster Elementary 1-23 for years to come; and 1-24 WHEREAS, By developing the habit of reading, these students 2-1 have taken an important step towards a successful future, and their 2-2 outstanding efforts in this regard have brought great pride to 2-3 their teachers, parents, and community, as well as a deep sense of 2-4 accomplishment to the students themselves; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby honor all the well-read students of Inez Foster 2-7 Elementary who participated in the World Book 2-8 Partners-In-Excellence Reading Program; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for prominent display at the Inez Foster Elementary School 2-11 as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-12 Representatives. 2-13 Representatives. 2-14 Puente 2-15 H.R.
