                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The 200th anniversary of the birth of Stephen F.
    1-2  Austin will be celebrated in grand style in San Felipe on November
    1-3  6-7, 1993; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Texas cities from throughout Austin's original
    1-5  colony, an area now comprising 15 counties, have been invited to
    1-6  participate in this rich historical celebration; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, In addition to booths, a parade, a pageant, and
    1-8  fireworks, living history demonstrations will be featured, along
    1-9  with a replica of Stephen F.  Austin's log cabin and reproductions
   1-10  of clothing, firearms, maps, tools, and other common items, to
   1-11  convey to modern visitors a sense of colonial life in the Texas of
   1-12  the 1820s; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Innumerable individuals are giving generously of
   1-14  their time, energy, and expertise to ensure the success of this
   1-15  exciting event, and it is indeed appropriate that their efforts be
   1-16  recognized and encouraged by the Texas House of Representatives;
   1-17  now, therefore, be it
   1-18        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-19  Legislature hereby honor the 200th birthday celebration of Stephen
   1-20  F. Austin in San Felipe and extend best wishes to the citizens of
   1-21  the community for a truly memorable event; and, be it further
   1-22        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   1-23  prepared for presentation at the celebration as an expression of
   1-24  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
