H.R. No. 80 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, While few athletic teams are able to realize the 1-2 dream of attaining a state championship in their given sport, fewer 1-3 still can marshal the dedication and drive to duplicate such a 1-4 phenomenal task; among that elite group is the Schulenburg High 1-5 School Shorthorns, who recently earned their second consecutive 1-6 title as University Interscholastic League Class 2A football 1-7 champions; and 1-8 WHEREAS, In the majestic confines of the Astrodome, the 1-9 Shorthorns dominated an excellent Goldthwaite football team, 1-10 cruising to an easy 35-20 victory in the championship game; and 1-11 WHEREAS, An overall record of 15 wins against only 1 defeat 1-12 was indicative of the consistent excellence that was the hallmark 1-13 of this remarkable Schulenburg team; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Under the direction of head coach David Husmann, who 1-15 provided unwavering guidance and tireless support to his athletes, 1-16 the Shorthorns now stand on the threshold of establishing a 1-17 football dynasty; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Although each team member made a significant 1-19 contribution to the Shorthorns' success, several players also 1-20 attained individual honors; quarterback Casey Taber was deservedly 1-21 named the Associated Press Class 2A offensive player of the year, 1-22 and Cale Kobza, Travis Wagner, Glen Lindblade, and Michael Demel 1-23 all earned spots on the Class 2A District 28 first team; and 1-24 WHEREAS, This exceptional group of young men along with their 2-1 coaches and staff have been a tremendous source of pride to the 2-2 students and faculty of Schulenburg High School and their many 2-3 supporters in the community, and their exceptional achievements 2-4 have rightfully earned them special legislative recognition; now, 2-5 therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby congratulate Coach David Husmann and the 2-8 Schulenburg High School Shorthorns on their superb 1992 football 2-9 campaign and second consecutive Class 2A football championship; 2-10 and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-12 for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be 2-13 prepared for prominent display at Schulenburg High School as an 2-14 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-15 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-16 Saunders 2-17 H.R.
