H.R. No. 82
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Texas is proud of the heritage left by its early
    1-2  German settlers and profoundly appreciates every effort to preserve
    1-3  that precious feature of the state's past; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Music refreshed the hearts of many weary pioneers,
    1-5  and singing has ever been dear to the hearts of German Texans; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, In celebration of the 114th anniversary of its
    1-7  founding, the Austin Saengerrunde will host the 47th annual
    1-8  Saengertag of the Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund on May 16, 1993,
    1-9  at the Austin Saengerrunde Halle; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, This momentous German festival of choirs will
   1-11  feature hundreds of singers from throughout the state; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Texas' many fine German choruses have used their
   1-13  exceptional vocal talents to preserve an important element of the
   1-14  state's rich German heritage, and their significant contributions
   1-15  in this regard indeed merit special recognition and praise; now,
   1-16  therefore, be it
   1-17        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-18  Legislature hereby commend the Austin Saengerrunde on its
   1-19  continuing efforts to promote German language and culture and
   1-20  extend a warm welcome to all singers attending the 47th Saengertag;
   1-21  and, be it further
   1-22        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   1-23  prepared for the Austin Saengerrunde as an expression of high
   1-24  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
