1-4 WHEREAS, The arrival of the first Houston and Texas Central
1-5 train in Denison in 1873 signaled the dawn of a new era for Texas
1-6 and the nation, binding north and south forever with twin steel

1-18 and ushered the state into the industrial age; and
1-19 WHEREAS, At the time of its occurrence, this tremendous
1-20 achievement was given little pomp and fanfare for an event of such
1-21 far-reaching significance; and

1-23 the Houston and Texas Central and the Missouri Kansas and Texas
