By: Thompson, G. H.R. No. 96 73R2661 PAN-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Reverend C. L. Bryant recently was honored for 1-2 his enduring dedication as a pastor and leader of the Gospel 1-3 Kingdom Church of God in Christ when he was promoted to the rank of 1-4 bishop; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Following his graduation from Concord High School in 1-6 Rusk County, Bishop Bryant earned a bachelor of arts degree from 1-7 Colorado Baptist Bible University and later earned a bachelor's 1-8 degree and master's degree in bible theology from the International 1-9 Bible Institute and Seminar; he also earned a bachelor's degree and 1-10 master's degree in biblical studies and a doctor of divinity degree 1-11 from the Family Bible Institute; and 1-12 WHEREAS, This fine clergyman began his pastoral career in 1-13 Texas in 1957; he founded and preached out of four churches over 1-14 the course of the next 12 years before moving to Colorado in 1969; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, During his years in the Centennial State, Bishop 1-17 Bryant founded two more churches, served for two decades as the 1-18 Colorado Church of God in Christ Midwestern District 1-19 Superintendent, and as the ordination board chairman and the 1-20 parliamentarian for the statewide organization; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Since his return to Texas in 1975, Bishop Bryant has 1-22 served as the valued pastor of the Gospel Kingdom Church of God in 1-23 Christ, as the administrative assistant for the Texas South East 1-24 Third jurisdiction, and as a national Church of God in Christ 2-1 evangelist; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Throughout his remarkable career, this admirable 2-3 gentleman has placed the spiritual needs of his congregations above 2-4 all else, offering each church member the benefit of his special 2-5 strength; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Bishop Bryant has been recognized on numerous 2-7 occasions for his outstanding service, and his many accomplishments 2-8 include being honored as minister of the year and receiving a 2-9 special achievement award for 24 years of service as a minister, 2-10 pastor, and church leader; and 2-11 WHEREAS, In Bishop Bryant, the church has found a preacher, a 2-12 prophet, and a stalwart friend for the work of the ministry; his 2-13 religious guidance has provided comfort and inspiration to 2-14 countless individuals and he is indeed worthy of our highest praise 2-15 and recognition on the occasion of his latest achievement; now, 2-16 therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-18 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend C. L. Bryant on his 2-19 promotion to the post of bishop and commend him for the many 2-20 significant contributions he has made to the betterment of his 2-21 community and state as a preacher of the gospel; and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-23 prepared for Bishop Bryant as an expression of highest regard by 2-24 the Texas House of Representatives.
