                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Southwest Texas District of the Tenth Episcopal
    1-2  District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church has served the
    1-3  spiritual needs of its devoted followers for many years, offering
    1-4  comfort, faith, and hope to countless individuals; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, On February 3-4, 1993, this fine group, under the
    1-6  inspired leadership of the district's presiding elder, the Reverend
    1-7  Merrell Johnson, will unite with other Christian churches in an
    1-8  ecumenical 24-hour prayer vigil; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The Southwest Texas District will hold its vigil and
   1-10  revival at the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in San
   1-11  Antonio, where services will be conducted by the presiding bishop
   1-12  of the Tenth Episcopal District, the Right Reverend John R. Bryant,
   1-13  and his wife, the Reverend Cee Bryant; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Throughout its rich history, this respected
   1-15  organization has consistently provided crucial support and guidance
   1-16  for many worthy community endeavors throughout the Southwest Texas
   1-17  region; an organization of rare spirit and commitment, it is indeed
   1-18  deserving of our highest praise and recognition for its many
   1-19  outstanding contributions in this regard; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-21  Legislature hereby honor the Southwest Texas District of the Tenth
   1-22  Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church for
   1-23  its exemplary contributions to the spiritual life of our state and
   1-24  commend it on its participation in the 24-hour prayer vigil; and,
    2-1  be it further
    2-2        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-3  prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
    2-4  Texas House of Representatives.
