                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Red Oak High School Lady Hawks have achieved the
    1-2  pinnacle of success in their sport, winning the University
    1-3  Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 4A state volleyball
    1-4  championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Facing Friendswood in the state semifinals
    1-6  competition at Tony Burger Center in Austin, the Lady Hawks
    1-7  exhibited both talent and character, taking the hard-fought match
    1-8  over their spirited opponents 15-13, 15-13; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, With the state title on the line, this determined
   1-10  Red Oak squad would not be denied, winning over highly regarded
   1-11  Austin Anderson 15-5, 15-13, and ending their championship season
   1-12  with a phenomenal record of 40 wins against only two defeats; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The Lady Hawks featured superior ability,
   1-14  outstanding determination, and tremendous pride on the part of
   1-15  every team member, including Angie Walker, Candy Wells, Mandy
   1-16  Callier, Marcie Holman, Joy Oliver, Sherrie Kiser, Laura Dodd, Amy
   1-17  Hanna, Amanda Brown, Rhonda Rust, Amy Rollins, Shannon Russell,
   1-18  Christy Brown, Rhonda Dodd, Alice Harris, Carrie Taylor, Andrea
   1-19  Ray, and Brea Forbes; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Outstanding dedication and leadership were the
   1-21  hallmarks of head coach Arthur Stanfield, who molded the individual
   1-22  talents of his players into a successful team, and he was ably
   1-23  supported in this effort by assistant coaches Patricia Garcia and
   1-24  Jamie Deal; other invaluable off-the-court assistance was supplied
    2-1  by managers Mikal Nations and Oralia Diaz and trainer Stuart Dunn;
    2-2  and
    2-3        WHEREAS, In addition to the team title, the Lady Hawks
    2-4  garnered several individual honors, with Rhonda Dodd, Rhonda Rust,
    2-5  and Amy Rollins representing Red Oak on the All-State Tournament
    2-6  team, and Rhonda Dodd was deservingly named the tournament's most
    2-7  valuable player; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, This exceptional group of young women has been a
    2-9  source of great pride for the students and faculty at Red Oak High
   2-10  School and their many supporters in the community, and their
   2-11  splendid achievements indeed merit special legislative recognition;
   2-12  now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-14  Legislature hereby congratulate head coach Arthur Stanfield and the
   2-15  Red Oak High School Lady Hawks volleyball team on their exceptional
   2-16  season and UIL Class 4A state volleyball championship; and, be it
   2-17  further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-19  for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be
   2-20  prepared for prominent display at Red Oak High School as an
   2-21  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
