                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Dallas Cowboys have proven themselves to be a
    1-2  team without equal in the National Football League (NFL) by
    1-3  crushing the Buffalo Bills 52-17 on January 31, 1993, and claiming
    1-4  the Super Bowl XXVII championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, In their storied history, the Dallas Cowboys have
    1-6  made a record-setting six Super Bowl appearances, establishing the
    1-7  silver and blue as the premier franchise in the NFL; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Undaunted by an early Buffalo touchdown, this
    1-9  superior group of athletes and coaches assumed total control of the
   1-10  contest, dominating their opponent both offensively and defensively
   1-11  en route to a 35-point Cowboy triumph, the third highest margin of
   1-12  victory in Super Bowl history; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Led by Super Bowl most valuable player Troy Aikman
   1-14  and Emmitt Smith, the Dallas offense combined a slashing running
   1-15  attack with a devastating aerial assault, tallying the second
   1-16  highest point total in Super Bowl history and leaving a dejected
   1-17  Buffalo defensive squad in its wake; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Not to be outdone, the Cowboy defense gave a
   1-19  magnificent effort, taking the ball from the vaunted Buffalo
   1-20  offense nine times and denying the Bills the end zone in a spirited
   1-21  goal-line stand that will take its place in the annals of
   1-22  professional football history as one of the great achievements by a
   1-23  defensive unit; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, This resounding Dallas victory would have been
    2-1  impossible without the tireless efforts of head coach Jimmy Johnson
    2-2  and his assistants, who masterminded the blueprint for victory and
    2-3  kept this incomparable group of athletes focused on the task at
    2-4  hand; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, In attaining this ultimate achievement in the sport
    2-6  of football, team owner Jerry Jones, head coach Jimmy Johnson, and
    2-7  the Dallas Cowboys have brought gridiron greatness back to the
    2-8  State of Texas, the nation's football heartland, and their supreme
    2-9  accomplishments have rightfully earned them special legislative
   2-10  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-12  Legislature hereby commend Jerry Jones, head coach Jimmy Johnson,
   2-13  and the Dallas Cowboys on their victory in Super Bowl XXVII and
   2-14  extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it
   2-15  further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-17  for the team and coaching staff as an expression of high regard by
   2-18  the Texas House of Representatives.
