                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The North Garland High School junior varsity
    1-2  cheerleading squad recently received national honors, placing first
    1-3  in their division for the second year in a row at the National
    1-4  Cheerleading Association Championship competition held at the
    1-5  Dallas Convention Center on December 28-29, 1992; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Competing against talented groups from around the
    1-7  nation, this outstanding team's brilliant performance was the
    1-8  culmination of months of hard work and dedication on the parts of
    1-9  all who joined together to achieve this remarkable goal; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Kim Abernathy, Erica Brown, Wendy Clark, Paige
   1-11  Dickens, Janey Eubanks, Nicole Francone, Kerry Gergel, Jill Glancy,
   1-12  Jessica James, Jocelyn Like, Misty Mahaffey, Lisa Millican, Kori
   1-13  Reed, Stephanie Shockley, Adrian Signater, Betsy Smith, Kelly
   1-14  Walston, and Heather Whitworth-King individually and collectively
   1-15  have upheld the school's longstanding tradition of excellence in
   1-16  interscholastic competition; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The team's sponsor, Vicki Tapp, has devoted a great
   1-18  deal of time and energy to the extensive preparations necessary for
   1-19  its many achievements; her attention to detail and coordination of
   1-20  team activities have proven indispensable to the success of this
   1-21  organization; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Coaches Bobby Detrick, a former Southern Methodist
   1-23  University cheerleader, and Stacey Keathley, a dancer and former
   1-24  Plano East High School cheerleader, have drawn on their combined
    2-1  years of experience to develop a unique style for the team; under
    2-2  their leadership, these talented athletes have met with
    2-3  well-deserved success in their pursuit of national recognition; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, The North Garland High School junior varsity
    2-5  cheerleaders are a source of pride for the entire state, showcasing
    2-6  to the nation the outstanding abilities of Texas youth; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby commend the members of the North Garland High
   2-10  School junior varsity cheerleading squad and extend warmest
   2-11  congratulations to them for their exceptional placement in the
   2-12  National Cheerleading Association Championship competition; and, be
   2-13  it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-15  for the members of the team, its directors, and its sponsor, and
   2-16  for prominent display at North Garland High School as an expression
   2-17  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
