H.R. No. 197 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The rich cultural heritage we enjoy as Texans is a 1-2 multihued tapestry created from the contributions of the many 1-3 diverse ethnic groups that settled in our great state, and like 1-4 Texans everywhere, the various communities of San Antonio take 1-5 great pride in celebrating their city's centuries-old multicultural 1-6 legacy with numerous communitywide exhibits and festivals 1-7 throughout the year; and 1-8 WHEREAS, On March 6, 1993, residents in the Harlandale 1-9 Independent School District of San Antonio once again will have a 1-10 special opportunity to share the community's legacy of cultural and 1-11 artistic contributions with their fellow San Antonians and Texans 1-12 by hosting the 18th Annual Cultural Arts Exhibit at the historic 1-13 Mission San Jose; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The culmination of the local observance of Texas 1-15 Public School Week, the featured exhibit, titled "Huellas 1-16 Multiculturales--Multicultural Footprints," will celebrate the 1-17 district's students' artistic achievement by presenting some of the 1-18 best examples of the quality of art work being produced by students 1-19 today; and 1-20 WHEREAS, While it justly pays tribute to the past and 1-21 commemorates the achievements of our predecessors as they are 1-22 imprinted on us today, this important community event also serves 1-23 as a preview of the future by showcasing some representatives of 1-24 the coming generation of artists who will continue to enrich our 2-1 lives by their outstanding individual talents, abilities, and 2-2 vision; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Appreciative of efforts to preserve the memory of 2-4 the past while encouraging each generation to build on its enduring 2-5 legacy with boldness and visionary spirit, the members of this body 2-6 wish to join all our fellow Texans in expressing that appreciation 2-7 with praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby honor the 18th Annual Cultural Arts Exhibit at 2-10 Mission San Jose, its organizers, and all of the participants in 2-11 this exhibit whose talent and dedication to art will undoubtedly 2-12 contribute to the cultural legacy of this state for years to come; 2-13 and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-15 prepared for the organizers of this event as an expression of high 2-16 esteem by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-17 esteem by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-18 Rodriguez 2-19 H.R.
