                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  San Antonio's Highlands High School and the nine Highlands students
    1-3  whose first place showings in Region IV Texas Academic Decathlon
    1-4  competition in January 1993 have reflected so much credit on their
    1-5  school; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Hundreds of students from 35 South Texas schools
    1-7  competed for team and individual honors in this challenging event,
    1-8  which consists of six academic tests, two speeches, a seven-minute
    1-9  interview, an essay, and a "Super-Quiz"; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The faculty and student body of Highlands High
   1-11  School are justifiably proud of their first place winners:  Felix
   1-12  Aguirre, Brandi Barrett, and Christopher Coronado (varsity
   1-13  category); Maricela Martinez, Ryan Robinson, and Jerry Svec
   1-14  (scholastic category); and Cathy Anderson, Christopher Davis, and
   1-15  Sandra Sifuentes (honors category); and
   1-16        WHEREAS, These outstanding students have brought
   1-17  well-deserved recognition to their school through their superb
   1-18  showing in regional competition, and it is indeed appropriate that
   1-19  the Texas House of Representatives honor them for their exceptional
   1-20  accomplishments in this regard; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby congratulate Felix Aguirre, Cathy Anderson,
   1-23  Brandi Barrett, Christopher Coronado, Christopher Davis, Maricela
   1-24  Martinez, Ryan Robinson, Sandra Sifuentes, and Jerry Svec on
    2-1  placing first in regional Texas Academic Decathlon competition, and
    2-2  extend to them best wishes for continued success as they advance to
    2-3  the state finals; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
    2-5  for these fine students as an expression of high regard by the
    2-6  Texas House of Representatives.
