H.R. No. 223
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The death of Dr. Louis J. Levy on January 27, 1993,
    1-2  at the age of 79, has brought a great loss to the many friends and
    1-3  relatives of this distinguished North Central Texas physician; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth, Dr. Levy received his medical
    1-5  training from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston
    1-6  and completed internship and orthopedic residency programs at
    1-7  hospitals in Chicago and Los Angeles as well as the Texas Scottish
    1-8  Rite Hospital for Crippled Children in Dallas; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, In 1942 he began administering to the medical needs
   1-10  of the Fort Worth community as a private practitioner specializing
   1-11  in orthopedics; shortly thereafter he interrupted his practice to
   1-12  serve his country as an orthopedist with the 40th Station Hospital
   1-13  in the Mediterranean during World War II; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, In the course of his distinguished career, he also
   1-15  served at Harris Methodist Hospital, John Peter Smith Hospital,
   1-16  St. Joseph Hospital, All Saints Hospital, and Cook-Fort Worth
   1-17  Children's Hospital in Fort Worth; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Dr. Levy was widely regarded throughout his chosen
   1-19  profession for his knowledge, skill, and dedication and contributed
   1-20  his wealth of expertise as an esteemed member of several
   1-21  professional organizations, including the Diplomate American Board
   1-22  of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Tarrant County Medical Society, the
   1-23  International Society for Orthopedic Surgery and Trauma, the
   1-24  Clinical Orthopaedic Society, and the Texas Orthopedic Association;
    2-1  and
    2-2        WHEREAS, In recognition of the many and significant
    2-3  contributions he had made to the North Central Texas community
    2-4  throughout the years, he was honored with a number of prestigious
    2-5  accolades, including the Golden Headed Cane Award from the Tarrant
    2-6  County Medical Society, the Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club,
    2-7  and the Humanitarian Award from the National Jewish Hospital and
    2-8  Research Center; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Dr. Levy was a man of great vision who dedicated
   2-10  much of his life to serving the needs of his community; though his
   2-11  special presence will be missed by all who knew him, his spirit
   2-12  will surely live on in the hearts and minds of the many people
   2-13  whose lives were touched by this exceptional gentleman; now,
   2-14  therefore, be it
   2-15        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-16  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Louis J. Levy and
   2-17  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife,
   2-18  Danna Mehl Levy; to his two sons, Louis J. Levy, Jr., and Max
   2-19  M. Levy; to his daughter, Rosalyn L. Rubin; to his brother, Milton
   2-20  Levy; to his eight grandchildren; to his six great-grandchildren;
   2-21  and to the other members of his family; and, be it further
   2-22        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-23  for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of
   2-24  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Louis
   2-25  J. Levy.
