                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Edwina Nicole Mendenhall joined a coterie of the
    1-2  finest young women in Dallas when she was presented as a Cotillion
    1-3  Idlewild Debutante at the Cotillion Idlewild Club Debutante
    1-4  Presentation on November 27, 1992, and this honor brought great
    1-5  pride and joy to her loving family; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The theme of the 1992 ball was "Evening Masquerade,"
    1-7  and those in attendance were treated to a truly magical evening of
    1-8  music and dance; the highlight of the event was the presentation of
    1-9  the five lovely, talented, and ambitious young ladies selected as
   1-10  Cotillion Idlewild Debutantes; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Mendenhall,
   1-12  Miss Mendenhall is the beloved granddaughter of the late Reverend
   1-13  and Mrs. Vernon Dunbar and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wade Mendenhall;
   1-14  and
   1-15        WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman is a sophomore at Texas
   1-16  Woman's University in Denton, where she is studying occupational
   1-17  therapy; she is a member of several campus organizations, including
   1-18  the African American Student Alliance and the National Association
   1-19  for the Advancement of Colored People; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A devout member of Concord Missionary Baptist
   1-21  Church, Miss Mendenhall has been active in the church's Youth
   1-22  Ministry and the Voices of Praise Choir; she has participated in
   1-23  Y-Teens and has reached out to help others in her community through
   1-24  the YWCA Mentor Program; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Miss Mendenhall attended Irving High School, where
    2-2  she balanced her schoolwork with numerous extracurricular
    2-3  activities; she danced with the spirited Irving High Drill Team and
    2-4  was a member of the Business Club of America, and her participation
    2-5  in these activities, along with her high academic performance, were
    2-6  recognized when she was honored as an Outstanding High School
    2-7  Student of America; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Although her college studies keep her quite busy,
    2-9  this lovely young lady still finds time to pursue her favorite
   2-10  hobbies, which include reading, dancing, singing, and traveling;
   2-11  and
   2-12        WHEREAS, This charming and gracious young lady is a source of
   2-13  great pride to her community, her family, and her many friends, and
   2-14  her presentation as a Cotillion Idlewild Debutante truly merits
   2-15  special recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-16        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-17  Legislature hereby congratulate Edwina Nicole Mendenhall on her
   2-18  presentation as a Cotillion Idlewild Debutante at the Cotillion
   2-19  Idlewild Club Debutante Presentation and extend to her warmest best
   2-20  wishes for many more years of continued success and happiness; and,
   2-21  be it further
   2-22        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-23  prepared for Miss Mendenhall as an expression of high regard by the
   2-24  Texas House of Representatives.
