                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Ursula Woods became part of a long and glorious
    1-2  tradition when she formally entered society as a Cotillion Idlewild
    1-3  Debutante at the Cotillion Idlewild Club Debutante Presentation on
    1-4  November 27, 1992, thus joining the select ranks of exceptional
    1-5  young women who have been honored in the club's 71-year history;
    1-6  and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The theme of the 1992 ball was "Evening Masquerade,"
    1-8  and those in attendance were treated to a truly magical evening of
    1-9  music and dance; the highlight of the event was the presentation of
   1-10  the five lovely, talented, and ambitious young ladies selected as
   1-11  Cotillion Idlewild Debutantes; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, This lovely young lady is the daughter of Mr. and
   1-13  Mrs. Cotis Woods and the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruthene Blume and
   1-14  the late Mr. Luther Blume, and Mrs. Martha Woods and the late
   1-15  Mr. John Woods; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Miss Woods is a junior at Morris Brown College in
   1-17  Atlanta, Georgia, where she is pursuing a major in public relations
   1-18  and a minor in marketing; she plans to attend law school after
   1-19  college, and her ultimate career goal is to open her own private
   1-20  law practice; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Through the Morris Brown College CO-OP Club, which
   1-22  assists college students in finding employment opportunities, Miss
   1-23  Woods has completed several challenging internships with such
   1-24  companies as Essence Magazine, the U.S. Department of Labor, and
    2-1  Nissan Corporation; she also has served as president of the mentor
    2-2  volunteer program and is a member of the Communication Club, all
    2-3  while earning outstanding grades that have secured her a place on
    2-4  the Dean's List; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman established this pattern
    2-6  of high academic achievement and extracurricular participation
    2-7  while she was a student at Skyline High School, where she belonged
    2-8  to the French Club, the Child Psychology Club, and the Thespian
    2-9  Society, and served as vice-president of Future Homemakers of
   2-10  America; in addition, she studied dance at the Mary Lois School of
   2-11  Dance and attended Kim Dawson Modeling School; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, Miss Woods devotes much of her spare time to
   2-13  community service as a Junior Red Cross volunteer and through her
   2-14  involvement with the New Hope Baptist Church; when she is not busy
   2-15  with her many activities and volunteer projects, she enjoys acting,
   2-16  swimming, reading, and traveling; and
   2-17        WHEREAS, Blessed with a warm personality and natural charm,
   2-18  Ursula Woods is a true embodiment of the Cotillion Idlewild
   2-19  Debutante; she is a woman whose friendly and gracious demeanor
   2-20  enriches the lives of all who know her, and she is truly deserving
   2-21  of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-22        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-23  Legislature hereby congratulate Ursula Woods on her presentation as
   2-24  a Cotillion Idlewild Debutante at the Cotillion Idlewild Club
   2-25  Debutante Presentation and extend to her warmest best wishes for
   2-26  many more years of continued success and happiness; and, be it
   2-27  further
    3-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-2  prepared for Miss Woods as an expression of high regard by the
    3-3  Texas House of Representatives.
