                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Latosha Herron brought great pride and joy to her
    1-2  family when she made her social debut at the Cotillion Idlewild
    1-3  Club Debutante Presentation on November 27, 1992, and thus became
    1-4  one of the select group of young ladies known as Cotillion Idlewild
    1-5  Debutantes; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The theme of the 1992 ball was "Evening Masquerade,"
    1-7  and those in attendance were treated to a truly magical evening of
    1-8  music and dance; the highlight of the event was the presentation of
    1-9  the five lovely, talented, and ambitious young ladies selected as
   1-10  Cotillion Idlewild Debutantes; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, This lovely young lady is the daughter of Mr. and
   1-12  Mrs. Alfred Herron and the granddaughter of the late Mr. Ola and
   1-13  Mary Williams and the late Matthew and Ella Herron; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A sophomore at the University of North Texas in
   1-15  Denton, Miss Herron is studying public relations and is actively
   1-16  involved in several student organizations, including the
   1-17  Progressive Black Student Organization, the National Association
   1-18  for the Advancement of Colored People, and Voices of Praise; she
   1-19  also recently joined the National Association of Black Journalists
   1-20  and Black Awareness, a group actively seeking solutions to the
   1-21  difficult problems facing today's young black adults; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, This outstanding student set this pattern of high
   1-23  academic achievement and leadership while she was still attending
   1-24  the High School for Health Professions, where she was president of
    2-1  the student council and a member of both the Student Advisory
    2-2  Committee and the "Make it Happen" Committee; she also was actively
    2-3  involved in groups such as Health Occupations Students of America
    2-4  and Future Homemakers of America; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, Miss Herron is a devout member of St. John Baptist
    2-6  Church, where she has served on the Youth Usher Board, sung in the
    2-7  choir, and acted as president of the Youth Fellowship; the church
    2-8  honored her for her dedicated service by awarding her its
    2-9  Branch-Roland Scholarship; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, This spirited young woman also devotes much of her
   2-11  time to community service through groups such as Jack and Jill of
   2-12  America and Top Teens of America; she was second runner-up in the
   2-13  Miss Jabberwock Pageant, which earned her another scholarship to
   2-14  the school of her choice; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, Although she spends much of her time on school and
   2-16  community service, Miss Herron still finds time to devote to her
   2-17  favorite hobbies, which include reading, traveling, aerobics, and
   2-18  attending sporting events; and
   2-19        WHEREAS, Blessed with a warm personality and natural charm,
   2-20  Latosha Herron is a true embodiment of a Cotillion Idlewild
   2-21  Debutante; a woman whose friendly and gracious demeanor enriches
   2-22  the lives of all who know her, she is indeed worthy of special
   2-23  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-24        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-25  Legislature hereby congratulate Latosha Herron on her presentation
   2-26  as a Cotillion Idlewild Debutante at the Cotillion Idlewild Club
   2-27  Debutante Presentation and extend to her warmest best wishes for
    3-1  many more years of continued success and happiness; and, be it
    3-2  further
    3-3        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-4  forwarded to Miss Herron as an expression of high regard by the
    3-5  Texas House of Representatives.
