                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Lauren Anderson has brought outstanding beauty and
    1-2  grace to the stage as a principal dancer for the Houston Ballet;
    1-3  and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A Houston native, this talented and determined
    1-5  individual began her rigorous training at the age of seven at the
    1-6  Houston Ballet Academy; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Joining the Houston Ballet company in 1983, her
    1-8  exceptional ability earned her the rank of soloist in 1986, and in
    1-9  1990 she achieved the well-deserved position of principal dancer;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson has danced in a variety of demanding
   1-12  roles, including the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen in The
   1-13  Nutcracker, the Gypsy Girl in The Two Pigeons, Myrtha, Queen of the
   1-14  Wilis, in Giselle, Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, and the Ballerina
   1-15  in Etudes; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, This dedicated artisan also has performed in many of
   1-17  Ben Stevenson's highly acclaimed ballets, among them La Peri, Peer
   1-18  Gynt, Cinderella, Martinu 5th, and Coppelia, and her vast repertory
   1-19  also includes George Balanchine's Serenade, The Four Temperaments,
   1-20  and Western Symphony, Sir Kenneth MacMillan's Song of the Earth and
   1-21  Elite Syncopations, Trey McIntyre's Skeleton Clock, and an
   1-22  appearance in the first female cast of Christopher Bruce's
   1-23  Swansong; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Lauren Anderson's superlative performance skills
    2-1  earned her a Special Jury Award at the IV USA International Ballet
    2-2  Competition; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Throughout her career with the Houston Ballet,
    2-4  Lauren Anderson has consistently excelled in the difficult art of
    2-5  ballet, enchanting audiences with her ability to convey drama  and
    2-6  emotion; it is indeed appropriate that she be given special
    2-7  legislative recognition for her continuing contributions in this
    2-8  regard; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-10  Legislature hereby commend Lauren Anderson on her exemplary
   2-11  dedication to her art as a principal dancer for the Houston Ballet
   2-12  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in the
   2-13  future; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-15  prepared for Ms. Anderson as an expression of high regard by the
   2-16  Texas House of Representatives.
