                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to join
    1-2  with the citizens of Lumberton in honoring esteemed school board
    1-3  president Marcus W. Bowman for his many contributions to the
    1-4  Lumberton school system; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, An experienced and highly regarded educator,
    1-6  Mr. Bowman has demonstrated exceptional leadership since assuming
    1-7  his duties as president of the school board of the Lumberton
    1-8  Independent School District (LISD) in 1991; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Retired from teaching, Mr. Bowman honed his
   1-10  considerable professional expertise and gained valuable insights
   1-11  into the educational needs of the community as a classroom teacher
   1-12  for many years, distinguishing himself as a capable and effective
   1-13  instructor during a rewarding career spanning more than three
   1-14  decades; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A longtime member of the Lumberton community and
   1-16  former president of the Lumberton Education Association, Mr. Bowman
   1-17  enjoyed an accomplished 21-year tenure with LISD highlighted by a
   1-18  number of important achievements and an overall dedication to duty
   1-19  that has earned him the lasting respect and admiration of his
   1-20  students, colleagues, and many friends in the community; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A graduate of Tulane University where he was an
   1-22  outstanding football player, this versatile and well-rounded
   1-23  gentleman also has successfully used his extensive knowledge and
   1-24  experience to benefit students in activities outside the classroom,
    2-1  providing them with valuable guidance and counseling as a coach and
    2-2  as a vocational director; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Mr. Bowman also lends his time to many worthwhile
    2-4  civic activities and is a well-liked and valued member of this
    2-5  close-knit community on the edge of the Big Thicket; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary teaching and administrative
    2-7  career, Mr. Bowman has demonstrated exemplary commitment to his
    2-8  students and to the ideal of academic excellence; a man of great
    2-9  vision and energy, he has adhered to high standards of personal and
   2-10  professional integrity and is indeed deserving of our praise and
   2-11  recognition for his significant contributions to the quality of
   2-12  education in our state; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-14  Legislature hereby commend Marcus W. Bowman for his many years of
   2-15  outstanding service to the Lumberton community and to the State of
   2-16  Texas; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-18  prepared for him as an expression of highest regard by the Texas
   2-19  House of Representatives.
