R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, For decades, the Texas Junior College Student
1-2 Government Association has provided invaluable educational services
1-3 to Texas students by creating an opportunity for participants to
1-4 experiment in government, experience the process of seeking elected
1-5 office, and improve their college organizations; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Participating students from 47 junior colleges
1-7 throughout the state elect a state board consisting of a president,
1-8 vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and parliamentarian, in
1-9 addition to a bulletin and a host school, to carry out the duties
1-10 of the program for the following year; and
1-11 WHEREAS, This year Blinn College of Brenham has the great
1-12 honor of being the host school for this year's convention; this
1-13 fine college has long been an active participant in the
1-14 association, and it is represented by an outstanding delegation led
1-15 by sponsor Joel Franke and enjoys the full support of the faculty
1-16 and staff of Blinn College, including college president Walter
1-17 Schwartz, a former state representative; and
1-18 WHEREAS, The Texas Junior College Student Government
1-19 Association has traditionally met in Austin to hold these biennial
1-20 proceedings and has requested the use of the house chamber on March
1-21 28, 1993; and
1-22 WHEREAS, It is fitting that the Texas House of
1-23 Representatives lend its full support to this valuable program and
1-24 encourage the active participation of those who will one day be
2-1 leaders in their own generation; now, therefore, be it
2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd
2-3 Legislature hereby commend the Texas Junior College Student
2-4 Government Association for its valuable work in training the
2-5 leaders of tomorrow and that the faculty, staff, and participants
2-6 of Blinn College of Brenham be saluted for undertaking the
2-7 responsibilities of host school for this year's convention; and, be
2-8 it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the house rules and with
2-10 the policies and procedures of the House Committee on
2-11 Administration, the Texas Junior College Student Government
2-12 Association be granted permission to use the house chamber from 8
2-13 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 1993, for the purpose of
2-14 holding their biennial convention, provided that the house of
2-15 representatives is not in session; and, be it further
2-16 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2-17 for the Texas Junior College Student Government Association and for
2-18 the president and sponsors of Blinn College as an expression of
2-19 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
