H.R. No. 250 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, State Trooper Jim Alexander is retiring from the 1-2 Department of Public Safety, bringing to a close an exceptional 1-3 career spanning more than three decades in law enforcement; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Joining the Abilene Police Department in October 1-5 1958, he distinguished himself throughout his tenure with the 1-6 department, earning not only the commendation of his superiors and 1-7 of his fellow peace officers but the respect and admiration of the 1-8 community he served, and his service record as an Abilene police 1-9 patrolman was filled with an eloquent testimony to his indomitable 1-10 courage, integrity, and dedication; and 1-11 WHEREAS, After many years of sterling service with the 1-12 Abilene Police Department, Patrolman Alexander turned in the badge 1-13 he had worn with great pride to join the Department of Public 1-14 Safety as a state trooper in the late 1960s; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Assigned to the Gulf Coast community of Pasadena, 1-16 Trooper Alexander was on duty when the first driver's license 1-17 division opened there; steadfast and reliable, he became a fixture 1-18 in the Pasadena unit, setting an outstanding professional example 1-19 for the many state troopers who served with him over the years and 1-20 who looked to the DPS veteran for inspiration, guidance, and 1-21 leadership; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The public, too, became aware of his dedication to 1-23 the community, benefiting both by the valuable assistance he 1-24 rendered to individual citizens in the course of his duties and by 2-1 his continued involvement in civic and community service 2-2 organizations in the city; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Often going above and beyond the call of duty in 2-4 carrying out his difficult tasks, Trooper Alexander throughout his 2-5 exemplary career has been a credit to himself, to all Department of 2-6 Public Safety troopers, and to all of the fine men and women in the 2-7 law enforcement profession whose selfless dedication to the public 2-8 welfare enable us to enjoy the benefits of a peaceful and orderly 2-9 society; and 2-10 WHEREAS, It is fitting, then, on the occasion of his 2-11 retirement, that the members of this body join his fellow peace 2-12 officers and the citizens of Pasadena in bestowing well-deserved 2-13 praise and recognition on this outstanding public servant; now, 2-14 therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-16 Legislature hereby honor Department of Public Safety Trooper Jim 2-17 Alexander for his outstanding record of meritorious service to the 2-18 community and extend best wishes for a happy and rewarding 2-19 retirement; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-21 prepared for State Trooper Alexander as an expression of high 2-22 esteem by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-23 esteem by the Texas House of Representatives. 2-24 Talton 2-25 H.R.
