No. 262 73R1697 KMP-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Joyce Holmes retired from her position as postmaster 1-2 of Crawford, Texas, on October 2, 1992, after serving with 1-3 integrity and distinction in that position for 13 years; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A McLennan County native and a graduate of Crawford 1-5 High School, Mrs. Holmes was employed by an automobile agency in 1-6 Waco before she joined the staff of the Crawford post office on 1-7 October 10, 1968; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mrs. Holmes received her appointment as the 1-9 postmaster of Crawford in 1979 and has earned the respect and 1-10 friendship of both her colleagues and the citizens of her community 1-11 over the course of her distinguished tenure; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Devoted to her family as well as her career, this 1-13 fine woman shares a happy and rewarding marriage with her husband, 1-14 Bill, who currently serves as justice of the peace, and she takes 1-15 great pride in the accomplishments of her two children, Dave and 1-16 Sharon, and is cherished by her five beloved grandchildren; in her 1-17 retirement, she hopes to see her grandchildren as often as possible 1-18 and play golf and travel with her husband; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Throughout her career as postmaster, Mrs. Holmes has 1-20 admirably carried out her responsibilities with the highest degree 1-21 of proficiency and professionalism; her outstanding service is 1-22 indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; now, 1-23 therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby honor Joyce Holmes for her exemplary career as 2-2 postmaster of Crawford and extend to her sincere best wishes for a 2-3 happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for Mrs. Holmes as an expression of high esteem by the 2-6 Texas House of Representatives.
