                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The recent death of O. Lee Golden at the age of 77
    1-2  has brought great sadness to the many friends and relatives of this
    1-3  esteemed citizen of Waco; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Born August 8, 1915, in the small town of Leonard
    1-5  near the Oklahoma border, Mr. Golden was a graduate of Leonard High
    1-6  School, The University of Texas at Austin, and The University of
    1-7  Texas School of Law; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Choosing to enter the demanding field of law
    1-9  enforcement, he attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
   1-10  Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and, upon graduation, embarked on a
   1-11  successful 27-year tenure with the FBI; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his peers for his exemplary work
   1-13  as a special agent, Mr. Golden served with great valor and
   1-14  dedication in bureau offices throughout the United States and,
   1-15  recognized for his leadership skills, was called upon to establish
   1-16  the resident agency of the FBI in Waco in 1949; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Upon his retirement in 1968, Mr. Golden joined the
   1-18  esteemed law firm of Clark & Clark Attorneys where he enjoyed a
   1-19  distinguished second career in the private practice of law; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, An energetic and public-spirited individual,
   1-21  Mr. Golden also contributed to the general well-being of the
   1-22  community as a member of the Lions Club and numerous other
   1-23  worthwhile civic organizations; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Active in the church, Mr. Golden was a deacon of the
    2-1  Columbus Avenue Baptist Church where he had been a valued member
    2-2  since 1947; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, In the legal profession and as a citizen, this
    2-4  remarkable man dedicated much of his life to preserving the high
    2-5  ideals of peace, liberty, and justice upon which our country was
    2-6  founded; truly a pillar of his community, he has left a legacy of
    2-7  public service that will continue to serve as inspiration to all
    2-8  those privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 72nd Texas
   2-10  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
   2-11  O. Lee Golden and extend sympathy to the members of his family:  to
   2-12  his wife, Polly Golden; to his daughter, SuEllen Wilson of Dallas;
   2-13  to his sons, Dr. John G. Golden of San Antonio and Steve S. Golden
   2-14  of New Braunfels; to his brother, James D. Golden of Dallas; to his
   2-15  sister, Velma Shoemake of Commerce; to his sister, Ruby Lee Golden
   2-16  of Leonard; to his six grandchildren; and to the other members of
   2-17  his family; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-19  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-20  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-21  O. Lee Golden.
