                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The many friends and relatives of Evelyn A. Orr were
    1-2  deeply saddened by the passing of this lovely lady on November 30,
    1-3  1992, at the age of 76; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Born February 16, 1916, in Westville, Illinois,
    1-5  Mrs. Orr was graduated with a master's degree in music from
    1-6  Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and began a
    1-7  rewarding career as a teacher following her graduation; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, She was teaching at the University of Arizona in
    1-9  Tucson when she became the bride of Emmett Orr, and the couple
   1-10  enjoyed a happy and rewarding marriage that spanned more than four
   1-11  decades until her recent passing; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, An esteemed resident of Waco since 1948, Mrs. Orr
   1-13  was a talented and well-loved educator who taught at North Junior
   1-14  High School for five years and at University High School for 25
   1-15  years before her retirement in 1979; in this capacity, she helped
   1-16  to guide several generations of students, offering extra assistance
   1-17  where needed and taking special pride in the accomplishments of
   1-18  each pupil; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Even in retirement, this remarkable woman continued
   1-20  to give of herself, playing piano for the Lions Club and a number
   1-21  of area nursing homes, serving as an active member of the Zion
   1-22  United Church of Christ, and as the first woman to have been
   1-23  elected president of the Northwest Lions Breakfast Club; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to know Evelyn Orr will
    2-1  not quickly forget the special presence of this exceptional woman;
    2-2  although she is gone from us now, her loving spirit will continue
    2-3  to live in the hearts of the many people whose lives she touched
    2-4  during her time on this earth; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Evelyn A. Orr and
    2-7  extend sincere sympathy to her husband, Emmett Orr, to her brother,
    2-8  Brice Anderson, and to the many other relatives and friends of this
    2-9  beloved lady; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
   2-12  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-13  Evelyn A. Orr.
