                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Mary E. Dawson has distinguished herself as a
    1-2  tireless volunteer and activist in behalf of the numerous Texans
    1-3  who suffer from cancer, and her efforts have won her the
    1-4  admiration, appreciation, and respect of her many friends and
    1-5  coworkers in her community and throughout the state; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The founder of the cancer support group "Love Ye One
    1-7  Another" (LYOA), this remarkable woman has shared her friendship,
    1-8  advice, and positive outlook with a large number of people who are
    1-9  facing the challenges of coping with cancer; by providing this
   1-10  network of information and support, Mrs. Dawson has touched many
   1-11  lives and spread a message of hope among those who are fighting
   1-12  this illness; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, This caring and committed individual also works with
   1-14  the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer and serves as a
   1-15  CAnCare volunteer; she recently had the great honor of representing
   1-16  CAnCare at the NCCS conference in North Carolina; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mrs. Dawson's selfless efforts in behalf of others
   1-18  with cancer, along with her deep and abiding faith in God, have
   1-19  supported her throughout her own courageous battle with a
   1-20  recurrence of cancer, and her exceptional strength and grace in
   1-21  dealing with this adversity have inspired all those around her; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Dawson enjoys the
   1-23  love and support of her husband Johnny and their five beautiful
   1-24  children; while balancing her commitment to her family with her
    2-1  demanding schedule of volunteer work, this dynamic woman also has
    2-2  managed to continue her studies at Texas Southern University and
    2-3  remains an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, In serving her family, her church, and her
    2-5  community, this extraordinary individual has given generously of
    2-6  her compassion and strength, and in doing so, she has provided
    2-7  those around her with a shining model of Christian faith; a woman
    2-8  of rare dedication and vision, Mrs. Dawson is truly worthy of
    2-9  highest legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby commend Mary E. Dawson for her outstanding
   2-12  community service efforts in the fight against cancer and extend to
   2-13  her warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success
   2-14  and happiness; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-16  prepared for Mrs. Dawson as an expression of high regard by the
   2-17  Texas House of Representatives.
