                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Joseph Brian Wagner at the
    1-2  age of 41 has deeply  saddened the many friends, relatives, and
    1-3  colleagues of this exceptional man; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Born on August 17, 1951, in  Wichita, Kansas,
    1-5  Mr. Wagner was active in the scouting movement and the 4-H Club as
    1-6  a young man and later developed an interest in the field of
    1-7  interior design; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Before moving to Texas, Mr. Wagner was employed for
    1-9  more than a decade in a number of hospitals in Wichita and also
   1-10  worked as an interior designer for Alco Interiors; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, After becoming a Houstonian, Mr. Wagner dedicated
   1-12  his considerable abilities to the assistance and support of others,
   1-13  demonstrating his strong compassion for his fellowman  through his
   1-14  work as a founding member of the People with  AIDS  Coalition; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, During his  affiliation with this worthwhile
   1-16  organization, Mr. Wagner  performed a wide variety of tasks
   1-17  designed to better educate the public about the disease and improve
   1-18  the lives of those who are living with it; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, He founded the group's household  goods program in
   1-20  1987, which has provided AIDS sufferers with whatever they might
   1-21  need in the way of household items, and the successful program has
   1-22  served as a model for similar programs that have been founded
   1-23  throughout the country; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Through his work with the People with AIDS
    2-1  Coalition, Joseph Wagner was able to share his  dream of a world in
    2-2  which all men and women might live   with the simple joys of
    2-3  understanding and acceptance; his dedication to this goal will not
    2-4  end with his passing but will live on in    the hearts of the many
    2-5  people whose lives were touched by this remarkable  gentleman; now,
    2-6  therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-8  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Joseph Brian Wagner
    2-9  and extend profound sympathy to his companion, Wayne Joy, to his
   2-10  brother, Van Wagner, to his other relatives, and to his many
   2-11  devoted friends; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared   for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-14  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-15  Joseph Wagner.
