                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of J. Frank Melcher, Sr., on January 17,
    1-2  1993, at the age of 49, is a great loss to the family and friends
    1-3  of this esteemed Harris County civic leader; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Born on November 1, 1943, in Houston, Mr. Melcher
    1-5  was graduated from Lamar High School in 1961; continuing his
    1-6  education, he attended The University of Texas at Austin and the
    1-7  University of Houston and maintained close ties with those two
    1-8  institutions for the remainder of his life as a member of The
    1-9  University of Texas Ex-Students Association and the University of
   1-10  Houston Alumni Association; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, An accomplished inventor and rancher by trade, this
   1-12  dynamic individual contributed a great deal of his time to numerous
   1-13  civic organizations, including the One Hundred Club of Houston, Pin
   1-14  Oak Horse Show Association, Crime Stoppers, Memorial Drive United
   1-15  Methodist Church, Selective Service System, Civilian Review Board,
   1-16  Rotary Club of Houston, Salvation Army Boy's Club, Salvation Army
   1-17  Men's Social Service Center, University Club of Houston, Vocational
   1-18  Guidance Service, Inc., Houston Farm & Ranch Club, Houston Harris
   1-19  County Fair, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Pin Oak Charity
   1-20  Horse Show, Harris County Sheriff's Reserve, Harris County
   1-21  Sheriff's Mounted Posse, Patrons Circle Houston Grand Opera, and
   1-22  Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Mr. Melcher gave tirelessly of his time and talent
   1-24  to the betterment of his community as a member of these
    2-1  organizations; though the satisfaction of his fellowship will be
    2-2  greatly missed, the many pleasant memories he leaves behind in the
    2-3  hearts of his loved ones will comfort and inspire them as they
    2-4  fondly recall his vigorous spirit and zest for life; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of J. Frank Melcher,
    2-8  Sr., and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his
    2-9  family:  to his wife, Janice Dougall Melcher; to his parents, LeRoy
   2-10  and Lucile Melcher; to his son, J. Frank Melcher, Jr.; to his
   2-11  daughter, JoAnn Yvonne Melcher Miller; to his son-in-law, Randall
   2-12  Miller; to his sister, Yvonne Melcher Brandenberger; to his
   2-13  brother-in-law, Gary Brandenberger; to his sister-in-law, JoAnn
   2-14  Dougall Levering; to his brother-in-law, Gary Levering; to his many
   2-15  nieces and nephews; and to the many other relatives and friends of
   2-16  this honorable gentleman; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   2-18  for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of
   2-19  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of J. Frank
   2-20  Melcher, Sr.
