H.R. No. 304
R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The more than 7,000 men and women who serve on the
1-2 local school boards of Texas shoulder an enormous responsibility
1-3 for preparing our state's schoolchildren for a successful future;
1-4 and
1-5 WHEREAS, Serving without compensation, school board members
1-6 share their considerable knowledge, vision, and experience and
1-7 provide informed leadership and local control for school districts
1-8 while striving to improve the overall quality of education in our
1-9 state; and
1-10 WHEREAS, These hardworking officials log countless hours in
1-11 what is often a complicated and demanding job, addressing the many
1-12 complex issues that exist in education today and making difficult
1-13 budget and management decisions that affect all aspects of the
1-14 public school system; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Above all, school board members provide the local
1-16 community with a powerful voice that aids in the responsible
1-17 supervision of our schools, preserving the cherished principle of
1-18 representative democracy on which our great nation was founded; and
1-19 WHEREAS, The board of trustees of the Birdville Independent
1-20 School District has performed these essential duties with the
1-21 utmost skill and dedication and has earned the high regard of the
1-22 Tarrant County community it serves; the hard work and commitment of
1-23 these individuals has made a positive difference in the lives of
1-24 students and is indeed worthy of special legislative recognition;
2-1 now, therefore, be it
2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-3 Legislature hereby commend Birdville Independent School District
2-4 Board of Trustees President Dolores Webb, Vice-President John
2-5 D. Spicer, Secretary Charles Yates, and board members Kelly
2-6 Hancock, Mike Robbins, Charles Scoma, and Calvin White for their
2-7 exemplary efforts in this regard; and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2-9 for each member of the board of trustees of the Birdville
2-10 Independent School District as an expression of high regard by the
2-11 Texas House of Representatives.
