                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Theodore R. Youngblood died February 9, 1993, at the
    1-2  age of 90, and the passing of this fine gentleman has profoundly
    1-3  saddened the members of his family and all of the many friends who
    1-4  had been privileged to know and love him; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Austin, Mr. Youngblood
    1-6  achieved a large measure of recognition and respect in the
    1-7  community; the recognition came naturally to him in his long-held
    1-8  position as the maitre d' at two of the city's landmark hotels, the
    1-9  Austin and the Driskill, while the respect he earned by virtue of
   1-10  the exemplary honesty, integrity, and loyalty that were manifest in
   1-11  his conduct at all times; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Selfless in his regard for others and unwavering in
   1-13  his belief in the value of education, he used every available
   1-14  opportunity to secure jobs for young African-Americans in his
   1-15  community who needed employment while they pursued their college
   1-16  education; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, He also was actively involved in countless community
   1-18  projects whose aim was to improve the quality of life for all of
   1-19  the community's residents, and he received numerous honors and
   1-20  awards in recognition of his untiring work in this regard; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Touching the lives of everyone he met with his
   1-22  warmth, generosity, and abiding concern for the well-being of
   1-23  others, Mr. Youngblood set an inspiring example of the positive
   1-24  force that is to be found in a life lived with both dignity and
    2-1  compassion, and though his presence will be deeply missed, his
    2-2  legacy will long endure as a cherished memory in many hearts and
    2-3  minds throughout the community; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Theodore R.
    2-6  Youngblood and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his
    2-7  family:  to his wife, Latatlion Youngblood; to his son, Alvin
    2-8  Youngblood; to his two brothers and three sisters; to his 11
    2-9  grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and to all of the other
   2-10  family members and friends who have mourned his passing; and, be it
   2-11  further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-14  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-15  Theodore R. Youngblood.
