No. 318 73R4827 RNS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The historic city of Seagoville is the home of 1-2 almost 9,000 industrious and exemplary citizens of this state who 1-3 are proud of their city's past and confident of a prosperous 1-4 future; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Settled in 1881 as a stop on the Texas and New 1-6 Orleans Railroad and named for T. K. Seago, postmaster and operator 1-7 of the general store, the community is now home to manufacturing 1-8 concerns, small businesses, agricultural interests, a federal 1-9 corrections facility, and major corporations; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The community has enjoyed the benefits of 1-11 progressive and able leadership, including the efforts of its 1-12 current mayor, Neal Wooley, and it has established itself as a 1-13 model for other communities in promoting recycling and 1-14 environmental awareness through being named a Clean Texas 2000 1-15 city; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The City of Seagoville and the Seagoville Chamber of 1-17 Commerce are sponsoring the fourth biennial visit of a delegation 1-18 of community leaders to the State Capitol, and the interest of 1-19 these citizens in the operations of state government and the 1-20 legislative process merits special recognition; now, therefore, be 1-21 it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby extend an official welcome to the distinguished 1-24 delegation from the City of Seagoville and designate February 24, 2-1 1993, as Seagoville Day in honor of its many fine citizens, past 2-2 and present, and their contributions to the greatness of this 2-3 state; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be prepared for the 2-5 visitors from Seagoville as an official expression of high esteem 2-6 by the Texas House of Representatives.
