No. 319 73R4826 PAN-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Dan Chapa, Jr., on February 7, 1993, 1-2 at the age of 73, has brought a great loss to the many friends and 1-3 relatives of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A resident of Corpus Christi, Mr. Chapa had 1-5 previously made his home in Robstown for many years and was 1-6 regarded with great affection and admiration by his friends and 1-7 neighbors in both communities; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Chapa was the owner of Chapa Real Estate of 1-9 Robstown and served the residents of that community as a member of 1-10 the city council in the 1950s and as an appraiser for the Nueces 1-11 County Tax Office for 25 years until his retirement in 1972; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Most recently, he had shared his valuable expertise 1-13 as a member of the Nueces County Appraisal Review Board; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, this admirable gentleman 1-15 distinguished himself in countless ways; a World War II veteran, he 1-16 also was a former grand knight and a charter member of the Knights 1-17 of Columbus Council #3110; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Dan Chapa was blessed with the rare ability to give 1-19 of himself, a gift he expressed through his many friendships, his 1-20 community service, and his smiling approach to life; though he will 1-21 be deeply missed, his unique spirit will remain in the hearts of 1-22 those whose lives he touched for many years to come; now, 1-23 therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dan Chapa, Jr., and 2-2 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-3 Candelaria Alaniz Chapa of Corpus Christi; to his daughters and 2-4 sons-in-law, Irma and Felix Ocanas of Saudi Arabia, Vilma and 2-5 Eduardo Zuniga of Corpus Christi, and Madge and Walter Reyna of 2-6 McAllen; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Armando and Vangie Chapa 2-7 of Corpus Christi and Dan and Linda Chapa of Little Rock, Arkansas; 2-8 to his sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva Garcia of San Antonio, 2-9 Blanca Resendez of Freemont, California, Olga and Israel Flores, 2-10 Gloria and Leonel Carrizales, and Lucila and Andy Carbajal, all of 2-11 Robstown; to his brothers and sisters-in-law, Clemente and Beatrice 2-12 Chapa, Polo B. and Angie Chapa, and Ernesto and Lamar Chapa, all of 2-13 Robstown, and Filberto Chapa of Dallas; to his 10 grandchildren, 2-14 Ingrid and Veronica Ocanas, Stacey Sherman, Nicole, Cara, 2-15 Catherine, and Leticia Chapa, Kenneth Andrew Trevino, James Anthony 2-16 and Daniel Reyna; and to his great-grandson, Mathew David Sherman; 2-17 and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-19 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-20 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-21 Dan Chapa, Jr.
