R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Ernest Zomalt on February 8, 1993, at
1-2 the age of 74, has brought a great loss to the many friends and
1-3 relatives of this fine gentleman; and
1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born and reared in Kendleton,
1-5 where he lived until the age of 23; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Zomalt proudly served his country as a member of
1-7 the United States Army and, following his military service, settled
1-8 in Los Angeles, California, where he worked as an administrator for
1-9 the city for three decades; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Returning to Kendleton in 1975, Mr. Zomalt went on
1-11 to serve as mayor of the community for eight years, during which
1-12 time he earned the respect and admiration of the citizens of his
1-13 community for his dedication to the responsibilities of his office;
1-14 and
1-15 WHEREAS, A devoted family man as well, Mr. Zomalt enjoyed a
1-16 happy and rewarding marriage with his wife, Maxine, and took great
1-17 pride in the achievements of his children, Bernice, Ernest, and
1-18 Robert; and
1-19 WHEREAS, In all aspects of his life, Ernest Zomalt
1-20 demonstrated a rare spirit of caring and concern that made the
1-21 world around him a better place to be; though he will be deeply
1-22 missed, he will long be remembered by the many people whose lives
1-23 he touched during his years on this earth; now, therefore, be it
1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ernest Zomalt and
2-2 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his
2-3 wife, Maxine Zomalt; to his daughter, Bernice Taylor of Los
2-4 Angeles, California; to his sons, Ernest Earl Zomalt and Robert
2-5 Lester Zomalt, both of California; to his grandchildren, Ronell
2-6 Taylor and Angelique Taylor, both of Kendleton, and Sandria and
2-7 Ashley Zomalt, both of California; and to his great-grandchild;
2-8 and, be it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-11 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-12 Ernest Zomalt.
