                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The members of this chamber wish to pause at this
    1-2  time to recognize their distinguished colleague from Fort Bend
    1-3  County, the Honorable Jim Tallas, who is celebrating his 56th
    1-4  birthday; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The voters of District 26 have returned Mr. Tallas
    1-6  to the state legislature on five occasions but, much to their
    1-7  dismay, have come to realize that he will still find his way home
    1-8  again with the able assistance of his faithful dog, Belle; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Mr. Tallas mystified his legislative colleagues
   1-10  earlier this year with his selection of an office in the dusty
   1-11  confines of the State Capitol rather than the Taj Mahole; despite
   1-12  humble assurances on his part that he wanted the nicer offices to
   1-13  go to people who deserve it more than he does, close associates
   1-14  have revealed that it was actually a matter of necessity as he
   1-15  couldn't fit his 10-ton pickup truck down the corkscrew-like ramp
   1-16  of the extension's parking garage; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Recognized by Texas Monthly for his legislative
   1-18  abilities (or lack thereof), this hard-working fellow also has
   1-19  garnered a reputation for having moods as changing as the Texas
   1-20  weather, and they have learned to cut him a wide berth on those
   1-21  days of the week ending in the letter "y"; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Despite his well-documented idiosyncracies,
   1-23  Mr. Tallas is popular among his colleagues, who have marveled at
   1-24  his ability to dance until the wee hours of the morning and still
    2-1  have the strength and agility to two-step around serious issues by
    2-2  day; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, When confronted regarding matters close to his
    2-4  heart, he has been known to foam at the mouth, a characteristic he
    2-5  shares with his only true friend, Belle; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Despite this avid golfer's proven ability to tee off
    2-7  his opponents on legislative issues, Mr. Tallas has earned the
    2-8  respect and admiration of his colleagues, who are pleased to have
    2-9  the opportunity to "putt" him in his place on this special
   2-10  occasion; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-12  Legislature hereby congratulate Representative Jim Tallas on the
   2-13  momentous occasion of his 56th birthday and extend sincere best
   2-14  wishes to him for continued success and happiness in the years to
   2-15  come; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for Mr. Tallas as an expression of high regard by his
   2-18  colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
