No. 339 73R5760 PAN-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On the momentous occasion of the rededication of the 1-2 cornerstone of South Euless Elementary School, it is an opportune 1-3 time to recognize this outstanding institution for the exemplary 1-4 education it has provided to generations of Texas schoolchildren 1-5 over the course of the past eight decades; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The community's first elementary school was founded 1-7 in 1881, the year Elisha Adam Euless settled in the area just south 1-8 of Bear Creek; the area's oldest continuously operated school, 1-9 which was then known as Euless School, opened its doors for the 1-10 first time as a two-room schoolhouse in 1913; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A beloved landmark in this thriving North Texas 1-12 community, South Euless Elementary School has witnessed numerous 1-13 changes during its existence, including early efforts to racially 1-14 integrate the school's student population and the loss of its roof 1-15 during a whirlwind in 1929; and 1-16 WHEREAS, From its historic beginnings, South Euless 1-17 Elementary School has dedicated itself to the total development of 1-18 its students, helping to shape tomorrow's leaders with pride and 1-19 determination; a shining example of excellence in education, this 1-20 exceptional school indeed deserves our highest praise and 1-21 recognition as it celebrates this significant milestone in its rich 1-22 history; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate South Euless Elementary School on 2-1 the occasion of its 80th anniversary and the rededication of its 2-2 cornerstone and extend warmest best wishes to all members, past and 2-3 present, of the school's fine faculty, staff, student body, and 2-4 administration; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for South Euless Elementary School as an expression of 2-7 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
