H.R. No. 346 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Panther Creek High School Panthers have attained 1-2 the highest plateau in their quest for excellence, winning the 1992 1-3 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Conference A six-man 1-4 football title; and 1-5 WHEREAS, After sweeping through District 11 with a perfect 1-6 5-0 record, Panther Creek met May in bidistrict competition, 1-7 posting a 59-39 victory; and 1-8 WHEREAS, With the area championship at stake, the Panthers 1-9 cruised by Rochester 52-20, to take the area title and continue 1-10 their march through the playoffs; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Although both teams lit up the scoreboard, Panther 1-12 Creek prevailed over a fine Cherokee team in a dramatic 70-68 1-13 thriller to advance to the semifinal playoff round; and 1-14 WHEREAS, In a textbook example of gridiron excellence, the 1-15 Panthers dominated Christoval both offensively and defensively on 1-16 the way to a convincing 58-12 win and earned a coveted spot in the 1-17 finals; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Culminating a dream that had been built on total 1-19 effort and team spirit, Panther Creek stormed past Fort Hancock 1-20 54-26, claiming the championship crown and ending the season with 1-21 an impressive record of 14 wins against only one defeat; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were a result 1-23 of tireless dedication throughout the year from team members Chad 1-24 Bolton, Cory Crye, Paul Risse, Todd Harris, Michael Loyd, Dan 2-1 Risse, Monty Bouldin, Chad Christmas, Chad Humphries, Clayton 2-2 Hinds, Heath Wilson, Kevin Hale, Shay Avants, Cody Cope, Dustin 2-3 Beard, Jason Jones, Kenneth Kennedy, Jason Copeland, Seth Luker, 2-4 Noel Simpson, Wes Ward, Chris Brown, Richmond Slate, Shannon 2-5 Williams, Randy Griffin, Richard Lutz, Justin Hale, and James 2-6 Adian; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Although each team member made significant 2-8 contributions to the Panthers' success, several players also 2-9 attained individual honors; Todd Harris, Monty Bouldin, James 2-10 Adian, and Dustin Beard won first team All-State honors, Chad 2-11 Bolton was second team All-State, and Chad Humphries was an 2-12 honorable mention All-State selection; and 2-13 WHEREAS, The team's exemplary coaching staff of Alan Luker, 2-14 Doyle Clawson, and Jerry Christmas provided unwavering guidance and 2-15 tireless support to their athletes, and their considerable efforts 2-16 helped transform a dream into a championship crown; and 2-17 WHEREAS, This exceptional group of young men, along with 2-18 their coaches and staff, have been a tremendous source of pride to 2-19 the students and faculty of Panther Creek High School and their 2-20 many supporters in the community, and their exceptional 2-21 achievements have rightfully earned them special legislative 2-22 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-24 Legislature hereby congratulate the Panther Creek High School 2-25 Panthers and their coaching staff on their superb 1992 gridiron 2-26 campaign and UIL Conference A six-man football championship; and, 2-27 be it further 3-1 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 3-2 for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be 3-3 prepared for prominent display at Panther Creek High School as an 3-4 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 3-5 prepared for prominent display at Panther Creek High School as an 3-6 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. 3-7 Turner of Coleman 3-8 H.R.
