                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
    1-2  recognize the many Americans throughout this century who have
    1-3  served their country in times of war, military conflict, or police
    1-4  action and who in the course of this service were either missing in
    1-5  action or captured and held as prisoners of war or as political
    1-6  hostages; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, These men and women have served the United States of
    1-8  America as civilians or military personnel to protect and further
    1-9  the cause of freedom and democracy throughout the world; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, During the course of this loyal and courageous
   1-11  service to our great nation, many of them have relinquished their
   1-12  lives or have been subjected to torture, slavery, and other
   1-13  deprivations in the quest for liberty and justice; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Citizens of the United States who have given so much
   1-15  in the name of democracy deserve to be remembered and honored for
   1-16  their heroism and bravery in the face of extreme suffering and
   1-17  sacrifice; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, A fitting memorial to these men and women will
   1-19  enable future generations who enjoy the fruits of democracy to
   1-20  appreciate the cost of freedom and the sacrifices of those who have
   1-21  helped preserve it; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   1-23  Legislature hereby express its support of efforts to construct a
   1-24  museum to memorialize and commemorate the sacrifices of United
    2-1  States servicemen and women and civilians who were captured,
    2-2  missing in action, or held hostage during wars and other military
    2-3  conflicts and police actions of the 20th century.
