                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, At a special ceremony on January 3, 1993,
    1-2  Christopher G. Glazner of Scout Troop 707 in Houston received the
    1-3  supreme honor that the Boy Scouts of America can bestow when he was
    1-4  awarded the prestigious silver eagle insignia denoting his
    1-5  attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Active in scouting since he was in the second grade,
    1-7  when he joined Cub Scout Pack 707, and diligently working his way
    1-8  up through the ranks within a very short time, this exceptional
    1-9  young man has amply proven his worthiness of this honor by
   1-10  exemplifying scouting's highest ideals and persevering in the
   1-11  pursuit of his goals with noteworthy dedication; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, In addition to earning 26 merit badges by
   1-13  demonstrating his knowledge and mastery of skills in a wide variety
   1-14  of fields, he has served his fellow scouts in Troop 707 as a patrol
   1-15  leader and senior patrol leader and in several other positions of
   1-16  responsibility, thereby demonstrating the outstanding leadership
   1-17  ability that is a requisite characteristic of all Eagle Scouts; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Glazner also has distinguished himself
   1-19  as a member of several other organizations within the scouting
   1-20  organization, including the exclusive Order of the Arrow and the
   1-21  Arrow of Light and Ordeal ceremony teams; recently he has sought
   1-22  further opportunities to serve and participate in scouting
   1-23  activities by joining Baytown's Explorer Post 105; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, A well-rounded and multitalented individual with
    2-1  many interests in activities outside of scouting, Eagle Scout
    2-2  Glazner has attained a similar level of success in other areas of
    2-3  endeavor by applying the habits and values developed over the years
    2-4  through his participation in the Boy Scouts of America; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, A member of the honor roll since he started school,
    2-6  he twice has been chosen academic student of the year and has
    2-7  received well-deserved recognition as a state finalist in the
    2-8  National Geographic Bee, as a member of the National Honor Society,
    2-9  and as a participant in the Duke University Talent Identification
   2-10  Program; and
   2-11        WHEREAS, He also is highly regarded as an accomplished
   2-12  musician, having made the All-District Band the last two years and
   2-13  both the All-Region Orchestra and the All-Region Band in 1992; and
   2-14        WHEREAS, His impressive list of achievements, which includes
   2-15  winning gold, silver, and bronze medals in academic pentathlon
   2-16  competition and a presidential academic fitness award, reflects
   2-17  both the talent and the character that have made this exceptional
   2-18  young man a truly worthy recipient of Eagle Scout honors; and
   2-19        WHEREAS, Talented, intelligent, dedicated, and responsible,
   2-20  Eagle Scout Glazner has been a source of great pride to his
   2-21  parents, Dale and Nancy Glazner, and an inspiration to his fellow
   2-22  scouts in Troop 707, and it gives the members of this body great
   2-23  pleasure to join them in bestowing the highest praise and
   2-24  recognition on this outstanding young man; now, therefore, be it
   2-25        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-26  Legislature hereby honor Christopher G. Glazner on his attainment
   2-27  of scouting's highest honor and his acceptance into the illustrious
    3-1  ranks of the Eagle Scout; and, be it further
    3-2        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-3  prepared for Eagle Scout Glazner as an expression of high esteem by
    3-4  the Texas House of Representatives.
