H.R. No. 358 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The many friends and family of Arnulfo Davila Macias 1-2 have suffered a great loss with the passing of this esteemed 1-3 gentleman on March 1, 1993, at the age of 65; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in Oak Cliff on March 17, 1927, Mr. Macias 1-5 spent part of his childhood in Villa de Santiago, Nuevo Leon, 1-6 Mexico, before returning to Dallas as a teenager; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Mr. Macias was known as a conscientious individual 1-8 who took great pride in his work; he was employed as a cook at the 1-9 Mayflower Cafeteria in downtown Dallas for 20 years, and he worked 1-10 for another 20 years as a chef with the Marriott Corporation; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Mr. Macias enjoyed a 1-12 warm and caring relationship with his wife of many years, Oliva 1-13 Alanis Macias; their marriage was blessed with five daughters, and 1-14 their close-knit family has grown in recent years to include three 1-15 grandchildren, who brought great pride and joy to their loving 1-16 grandfather; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman won the respect and 1-18 admiration of many of his neighbors for his selfless dedication to 1-19 his community; he worked tirelessly in the crusade to improve the 1-20 Love Field barrio through his work with the Love Field Neighborhood 1-21 Association and many other public service projects; and 1-22 WHEREAS, A devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help 1-23 Catholic Church, Mr. Macias further served the people of his 1-24 community through his efforts in the church; he served his fellow 2-1 parishioners as a Eucharistic minister and lay worker, and he 2-2 worked with the Church's Cursillo Movement for 16 years; and 2-3 WHEREAS, In serving his family, his church, and his 2-4 community, this extraordinary gentleman gave generously to those 2-5 around him and left them a legacy of love and compassion by which 2-6 to remember him; Mr. Macias truly exemplified the ideals of 2-7 Christian charity and faith, and his unique spirit will surely live 2-8 on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched; now, 2-9 therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Arnulfo Davila Macias 2-12 and extend sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved 2-13 wife, Oliva Alanis Macias; to his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary 2-14 Helen and Joe Reynoso, Mary Lourdes Macias, Estela and Daniel 2-15 Lopez, Anna Macias Aguayo and Eduardo Aguayo, and Linda and Edwardo 2-16 Huerta; to his grandchildren, Andrew Lopez, Melissa Lopez, and 2-17 Edwardo Francisco Huerta; to his brother, Luis Macias; to his 2-18 sisters, Hortensia Gunter and Linda Merritt; and to all the friends 2-19 and relatives of this outstanding individual; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-21 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-22 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-23 Arnulfo Davila Macias. 2-24 Arnulfo Davila Macias. 2-25 Alonzo 2-26 H.R.
