                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The importance of small business to the Texas
    1-2  economy is indisputable; and
    1-3        WHEREAS, There are approximately 400,000 small firms in Texas
    1-4  employing 80 percent of the state's work force; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The small business sector is the most fertile
    1-6  environment for new product innovation, advances in technology, and
    1-7  management techniques; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The state's greatest potential for long-term
    1-9  economic growth and new employment lies in the small business
   1-10  sector; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, On March 10, 1993, the Capitol will be the site of
   1-12  Texas' Small Business Appreciation Day, which is sponsored by the
   1-13  Texas Department of Commerce, the Texas Conference on Small
   1-14  Business, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Small
   1-15  Business United of Texas, the Texas Association of Business, the
   1-16  National Association of Woman Business Owners, and the Texas
   1-17  Women's Chamber of Commerce; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The event will attract small businesses from across
   1-19  the state for the purpose of stressing the importance of small
   1-20  business to the Texas economy; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature recognizes the vital role that
   1-22  small business has in the state's economy and appreciates the
   1-23  interest that representatives of that sector have in state policy
   1-24  affecting business and commerce; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
    2-2  Legislature extend its official welcome to the distinguished men
    2-3  and women attending Small Business Appreciation Day; and, be it
    2-4  further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be prepared for the
    2-6  sponsors of the event as an expression of high regard by the Texas
    2-7  House of Representatives.
