H.R. No. 381 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Riney Jordan for his many efforts to better the lives of his fellow 1-3 citizens; and 1-4 WHEREAS, After graduating from Howard Payne College with a 1-5 bachelor of science degree, this exceptional individual earned his 1-6 master of education degree from North Texas State University; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A staunch believer in the importance of education, 1-8 Mr. Jordan has devoted 26 years to the Grapevine-Colleyville 1-9 Independent School District (GCISD) as an elementary school 1-10 teacher, elementary school principal, director of purchasing, and 1-11 director of communications; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Gifted with considerable performing talents, 1-13 Mr. Jordan spent seven years in radio broadcasting, has served as a 1-14 master of ceremonies or announcer for numerous television programs, 1-15 including Showbiz for Kids, Grapevine Newscenter Six, Talk of the 1-16 Town, and Academic Quiz League, and also has emceed the Boomtowners 1-17 Ball, area chamber of commerce banquets, and school awards 1-18 assemblies; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mr. Jordan has tirelessly devoted his efforts to a 1-20 variety of worthwhile community activities as well, including 1-21 serving as president of the Grapevine/Southlake Rotary Club and the 1-22 Texas School Public Relations Association and as a board member of 1-23 the Baylor Medical Center at Grapevine, the First National Bank of 1-24 Grapevine, and the Grapevine Convention & Visitor's Bureau, which 2-1 he chaired; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Other civic organizations that have benefited from 2-3 his time and expertise include the Grapevine and Colleyville 2-4 chambers of commerce, the Northeast Tarrant County Arts Council, 2-5 and the American Cancer Society, and he has been designated as an 2-6 honorary life member of both the Texas Congress of Parents and 2-7 Teachers and the National Congress of Parents and Teachers; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Among the many well-deserved accolades garnered by 2-9 this outstanding citizen are the GCISD Teacher of the Year award in 2-10 1968, the Grapevine Citizen of the Year award in 1982, the TSPRA 2-11 Most Valuable Member award in 1988, the "Eagle Award" from the 2-12 University of North Texas in 1991, and the GCISD Distinguished 2-13 Employee Service award in 1991; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Jordan's extraordinary efforts in behalf of his 2-15 community truly exemplify the spirit of civic involvement, and it 2-16 is indeed appropriate that he be given special legislative 2-17 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-19 Legislature hereby commend Riney Jordan for his inspirational 2-20 contributions to the betterment of his community and extend to him 2-21 best wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, 2-22 be it further 2-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-24 prepared for Mr. Jordan as an expression of high regard by the 2-25 Texas House of Representatives. 2-26 Texas House of Representatives. 2-27 Moffat 3-1 H.R.
