                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
    1-2  salute Dan Eddy for his exceptional contributions to his community,
    1-3  state, profession, and family; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native of Oak Cliff, this distinguished Texan was
    1-5  educated at the University of North Texas and Southern Methodist
    1-6  University, and he served his country with honor as a member of the
    1-7  United States Air Force Reserve from 1967 to 1974; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Mr. Eddy is a dynamic force in the North Texas
    1-9  business community who has brought his talent and expertise to more
   1-10  than 10 chambers of commerce; currently serving on the board of
   1-11  directors of the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce, this remarkable
   1-12  civic leader is also a director, executive committee member, and
   1-13  past chairman of the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Strongly committed to improving Texas education, the
   1-15  key to ensuring this state's continued economic growth and
   1-16  vitality, Mr. Eddy works closely with the Best Southwest Coalition
   1-17  for Education and currently serves on the board of governors of
   1-18  Northwood University in Cedar Hill; he also has helped to advance
   1-19  the interests of his community's youngest citizens as a past
   1-20  president of the Duncanville Independent School District board of
   1-21  trustees; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman is active in many other
   1-23  civic organizations and citizens' groups throughout the Dallas
   1-24  area, including Leadership Southwest, the Grand Prairie Rotary
    2-1  Club, and the Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Foundation; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Admired and respected by his colleagues, Mr. Eddy
    2-3  has been a valued employee at the Southwestern Bell Telephone
    2-4  Company for 25 years, has worked in sales, personnel, and
    2-5  management positions, and currently serves as area manager of
    2-6  external affairs for Southwest and Southeast Dallas County; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, Despite his many civic and professional activities,
    2-8  this exemplary Texan is above all else a devoted family man who
    2-9  enjoys a happy and rewarding marriage with his wife of 27 years,
   2-10  Kathy, and takes great pride in the accomplishments of his two fine
   2-11  sons, Chris and Jason; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   2-13  Legislature hereby commend Dan Eddy for his many outstanding
   2-14  contributions to making his community a better place in which to
   2-15  live, learn, and work; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-17  prepared for Mr. Eddy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-18  House of Representatives.
