                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Southlake Carroll High School Dragons have
    1-2  attained the pinnacle of success, winning the 1992 University
    1-3  Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A football championship and
    1-4  claiming their second such title in five years; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Completing the regular season with their sixth
    1-6  consecutive 10-0 record, a feat unequalled in Texas high school
    1-7  football history, the Dragons carried the number one state ranking
    1-8  into their first playoff contest in which they crushed outmanned
    1-9  Eastland 61-7; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Taking the field against Reagan County, Southlake
   1-11  Carroll again dominated the opponent, winning 50-14 to take the
   1-12  area crown; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Although Vernon provided a stern test, this
   1-14  determined Dragon squad fought its way to a 39-35 victory and
   1-15  continued its march through the playoffs; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, In a remarkable exhibition of gridiron precision,
   1-17  the Dragons shut out Alpine 61-0 to take the Region I championship;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The state semifinal matchup pitted the Dragons
   1-20  against Gainesville, and Southlake Carroll put on a textbook
   1-21  demonstration of dominance both offensively and defensively en
   1-22  route to a 63-7 win; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Determined to duplicate the success of the 1988
   1-24  Southlake Carroll squad, this magnificent Dragon team seized the 3A
    2-1  crown with a 48-0 victory over Coldspring, completing the season
    2-2  with a perfect 16-0 record while scoring 803 points, the second
    2-3  highest point total in Texas high school football history; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were the
    2-5  result of a total team effort and selfless contributions throughout
    2-6  the year from members Scott Bratcher, Zack Stewart, Craig Frost,
    2-7  Kirk Holifield, Dane Johnson, Jared Pipher, Mike Lawlor, Brian
    2-8  Nimphius, Will Mantooth, Luis Mendoza, Curtis Pinson, Stephen
    2-9  Moreland, Larry Marquez, Derek Walton, Chad Voller, Kyle Smith, Tim
   2-10  Watkins, Todd McGrath, Adam Abitz, Brent Bohnsack, Mark Byarly,

   2-22        WHEREAS, Inspirational leadership was the hallmark of head
   2-23  coach Bob Ledbetter, who kept his charges on course in their
   2-24  tireless pursuit of perfection, and he was ably supported
   2-25  throughout the season by assistant coaches Ken Cook, Steve
   2-26  Lineweaver, Al Rushing, Joel Berry, Tom Rapp, Robert Drake, Fred
   2-27  Maples, Jim Cain, Ron Cullum, and Bo Jones; and
    3-1        WHEREAS, Spirited support from the sidelines was given by
    3-2  cheerleaders Laura Samartin, Janine Bernasek, Chelsea Gamble,
    3-3  Alison Hall, Melanie Hinsken, Brendi Houston, Rachel Pekowski,
    3-4  Allison Moore, Amy Schorn, Jeni Strickland, Callie Hoffman, Lynn
    3-5  Coakley, Ashley McNutt, Dedra Moffat, Kirsten Rhode, Rachel
    3-6  Samartin, Liberty Skelton, Deavon Moore, Robyn Barthelemy, Mandy
    3-7  Clayton, Maria Gallegos, Shilah Hudson, Emily Lawson, Amanda
    3-8  McCutcheon, and Kelsey Roberts, and mascot Susan Farkas; and
    3-9        WHEREAS, Over the past seven seasons Southlake Carroll teams
   3-10  have an astounding won-lost record of 97 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie,
   3-11  including a state record of 61 consecutive regular season
   3-12  victories, and have truly established the Dragons as a football
   3-13  dynasty; and
   3-14        WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young athletes and their
   3-15  coaches and staff have been a tremendous source of pride for the
   3-16  students and faculty at Southlake Carroll High School and their
   3-17  many supporters in the community, and their exceptional
   3-18  accomplishments have rightfully earned them special legislative
   3-19  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   3-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
   3-21  Legislature hereby congratulate head coach Bob Ledbetter and the
   3-22  Southlake Carroll High School Dragons on their undefeated season
   3-23  and UIL Class 3A state football championship; and, be it further
   3-24        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
   3-25  for the members of the team, coaching staff, school
   3-26  superintendents, and the principal, and that a copy be prepared for
   3-27  prominent display at Southlake Carroll High School as an expression
    4-1  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
