Triem has 1-2 provided outstanding service to the congregation of Pine Crest 1-3 Presbyterian Church of Houston; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in 1934, This exemplary pastor found his 1-5 calling at an early age and was ordained by the Presbytery of 1-6 Northeast Iowa, United Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., on June 5, 1-7 1960; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Eight years later, Reverend Triem came to the Pine 1-9 Crest Presbyterian Church, where he has provided inspiration and 1-10 guidance to the members of his congregation for a quarter of a 1-11 century; during this time, he has served as coordinator for the 1-12 Sixth People's Convention at the church and has earned the 1-13 admiration of all those who have had the pleasure of working and 1-14 worshipping with him; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as pastor, Reverend Triem 1-16 has been a guiding force in local and statewide ecclesiastical 1-17 organizations, including the Metropolitan Organization of Houston 1-18 and the Texas Conference of Churches; a proficient moderator for 1-19 the Presbytery of New Covenant of Houston in 1990, this respected 1-20 clergyman worked closely with Interfaith Ministries, formerly 1-21 Houston Metropolitan Ministries, for more than a decade; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Known to all as a courageous, compassionate, and 1-23 concerned friend, he is a tireless crusader on behalf of children 1-24 and families and has been president of the Child-Family Advocacy 2-1 Council and a member of the Texas Task Force on Infant Mortality; 2-2 and 2-3 WHEREAS, A former trustee of the United Way of Texas, he also 2-4 has served on the boards of Planned Parenthood of Houston and 2-5 Southeast Texas, Inc., as well as on the boards of Texas Impact and 2-6 Citizens United for the Rehabilitation of Errants; and 2-7 WHEREAS, The many contributions Reverend Triem has made to 2-8 his church, community, and state are indeed worthy of special 2-9 recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby commend the Reverend Edward T. Triem for his 25 2-12 years of outstanding service to the Pine Crest Presbyterian Church, 2-13 the community of Houston, and the State of Texas; and, be it 2-14 further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for Reverend Triem as an expression of highest regard by 2-17 the Texas House of Representatives.
