R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, On March 30, 1993, Lou Emma Snider Sealy will
1-2 celebrate her 100th birthday and to her many devoted friends and
1-3 relatives, this event is indeed a momentous occasion that is worthy
1-4 of special recognition; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Sealy was born in Cisco, the
1-6 daughter of Calvin Anderson Snider and the former Mary Melinda Rose
1-7 to a family of eight children; and
1-8 WHEREAS, On February 2, 1913, she became the bride of Oscar
1-9 Ramsey Sealy, beginning an exceptionally happy and rewarding
1-10 marriage that would be blessed with five wonderful children, Abner
1-11 Rogers Sealy, Lester Stone Sealy, Thomas Jefferson Sealy, Helen Lou
1-12 Sealy Penrod, and the late Calvin Anderson Sealy; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Sealy was an esteemed citizen of the community
1-14 of Palmer until May 4, 1978, when she became a resident of The
1-15 Ennis, Texas Care Center, where she has earned the respect and
1-16 admiration of many new friends; beloved by the members of her
1-17 close-knit family, Mrs. Sealy now enjoys the affection of seven
1-18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-
1-19 grandchildren, with a fourth expected at or around the time of her
1-20 100th birthday; and
1-21 WHEREAS, Throughout her long and fruitful life, Lou Emma
1-22 Snider Sealy has greatly enriched the lives of many people; her
1-23 100th birthday provides a fitting opportunity for her numerous
1-24 friends and relatives to share with her a small bit of the joy and
2-1 hope she has imparted to all who have had the privilege of sharing
2-2 her love throughout the years; now, therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas
2-4 Legislature hereby honor Lou Emma Snider Sealy and extend warmest
2-5 congratulations to this lovely lady on the joyous occasion of her
2-6 100th birthday; and, be it further
2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-8 prepared for Mrs. Sealy as an expression of highest regard by the
2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
